Hi! Anyone have current info on the road to Medvedova konta? Is it icy? Planning to go tomorrow, don't know if better park at the hotel and walk a bit faster or park higher... :

Since I like the sea, I went today to see the sea - FOG. In the morning it reached up to about 1400m, then gradually rose. The road to the parking above Medvedova konta is heavily icy and caution while driving is necessary. Morning sunny, warm, I'd say hot. At the top though it wasn't "whispering silence" as Bojan says, but the wind was speaking loudly. Met about 15 hikers on the whole trail, all with cramponettes, one with full crampons. Snow mostly mushy, only icy in some spots. Around 14h clouds covered the sun. Crampons and ice axe (thanks Andrej) stayed in and on the backpack today. Safe trails.

After almost five years up again. Start at Pri Rupah, past the hut at Lipanci and on the nicely marked, easy trail to the top. If at 6:20h at start the weather was still great, with view of Triglav (during drive from Krnica village just after 6h), I was at the summit an hour and a half later just fast enough to catch Aljaž tower for a minute when it peeked from clouds. Then it closed up and slowly fog started rising from below Krma. At 9h even the "Gamsovci" were in clouds. Shame. Otherwise trail without issues. To Blejska koča marks are rarer and quite faded, further on frequent and clearly visible.

I'd say it'll be "safer" by bike or on foot than by car

Has anyone been up there in the past few days? How does it look? Is the snow frozen and is it good to bring classic winter gear (crampons, ice axe etc.)? Or is it more southern and is there more need for gaiters and small spikes?

@KJ I know... If there's no additional info, it's obvious. But on Peč conditions often allow just small spikes - which are much lighter and walking more comfortable. If someone has a pic pointing clearly one way or the other, fine. Otherwise classic crampons and ice axe with me...

More than crampons and ice axe you'd need snowshoes or skis. Yesterday the snow was already southern in the morning.

If still relevant: more snowshoes than skis. Bad for skiing. Up top quite frozen, here and there it collapses on turns. Lower down frozen/southern, at Rudno polje level in forest here and there even dry snow.

On Saturday to Debela peč from the intersection where you turn to Šport hotel. Road from Mrzli studenec to planina Zajavornik not plowed, likewise not from the other side to the monument, so best approach from hotel across planina Zajavornik. Morning still quite cloudy and windy, below Blejska koča met a guy who told me he was heading to Debela peč but turned back at Blejska due to wind. Luckily weather changed from minute to minute, so when I got to Blejska it was already quite nice, so decided to go on anyway. Below ridge met three cheerful female hikers, chatted a bit and thank them nicely here as they made nice track for me, no need to struggle all over…..))). On top of it beautiful sunny day, on top of Debela peči no wind, so in sun not only warm but already hot. And all that just for me…)))), no living soul far around, first hiker met only back at Blejska koča. Whoever goes up and not used to winter conditions can take small crampons, all others will just add weight to backpack. Visits incredibly few, five hikers and three touring skiers who went to Mrežce, that's all I met that day.
