Dobrča is a grateful mountain. It's slowly becoming my go-to: when you don't know where to go and don't have much time. Safe, comfortable and with nice views. Today I start before dawn, the sun catches up with me almost at the take-off point. Gaiters are ugly on the legs a bit below the weekend hut, the path is icy, but it could be done without. But since I don't like the position where the pelvis is in front of the spine (at least not in the mountains) I put them on for comfort and they serve excellently in these conditions. At the top I extend to Šentanski vrh, views clear and wide. The wind pulls from the right direction, so I'm mostly sheltered, only from the top it chases me quickly. No big deal. I meet most people only at the end, of course, they slept a bit longer than me. A nice few hours behind me, spent in the best possible way, when you want to be alone with yourself.nasmeh
Sunrise, new day. Silence, only the bells were ringing in the valley.1

Today for the first time this year on Dobrča, I start when the sun is already about halfway. The parking lot at the water reservoir is (over)full just before noon, so I park at the church. Past the take-off point to the weekend hut, occasional cold gusts of wind blow here and there, but mostly calm. For a better feeling, I put on crampons a bit before the forest road, although at times you have to go on tiptoes nasmeh on the ridge where the path from Lešanska joins, they grip fully again. At the top it's cold, but no wind. In the logbook two pages are already filled with today's date velik nasmeh. Another one of the wonderful sunny days that there are plenty of in this autumn and winter.

Today instead of work to Dobrča from Brezje. The path to Dobrča is snowy, but not icy. Since there was no wind, we could sit a bit on topnasmeh

Incredible!
The final slope was completely icy on Sunday, February 5th. I'm really curious where the ice disappeared to?
My friend still has a sore tailbone today because he slipped on something he was sure was a heavily iced path. Obviously he was badly mistaken.
But there's another problem.
The caretaker will have to be convinced somehow not to recommend crampons anymore.
If you bypassed the last slope on the left via the forest road over Lešanska planina, write that. The forest road really wasn't icy.
An incomplete entry can mislead many.
No hard feelings!!!

The caretaker surely didn't advise you to put on crampons if not necessary, but to have them preventively in your backpack in such conditions!
No hard feelings!

julius, I don't know where you got that from, that the hut on Dobrča is always closed, yeah maybe some other hut, but KOČA on Dobrča is open every weekend and holidays, sometimes even during the week, maybe check some info (like pzs page) sometime so you don't spread untrue data to people.
No hard feelings!!!!

@Julius: yes, that's a problem: friend falls on icy ground, but the caretaker wrongly advises using crampons (I know those 14 teeth aren't needed, but maybe chains on the sole are meant). The hut on Dobrča might really be always closed (but I think it's a mountain pasture that's really without bulls and cows in winter), probably you aren't at Koča na Dobrči often.

Anyway, let's look a bit positively, there's snow, at least some, good food and service at Dobrča more often than "official". Cameras on dobrca.net also show the current weather.
See you in the mountains, no hard feelings :-))

veslac@ Let the rule apply that you comment on what you know about and have correct data.
On Dobrča there's only "Kostanjčeva koča na Dobrči" with official name. There's no hut there.
As for the hut itself, the offer in the hut, service and of course advice from the hut renter, all in superlatives.
šoja@ You already correctly figured after the third comma that it's Koča na Dobrči there, which is open OSNP and by arrangement also during the week.
I don't understand why you oppose accurate data. If Tinca5 writes it's not icy, but actually it is, it can be fatal for someone who believes her data, because they won't take proper gear.
My first post was exclusively about data being accurate.
Please don't explain to me "What all you must have in your backpack" when going to the mountains. Look at the visitors a bit, most have small promo backpacks where an evening snack and some t-shirt fit. Normal crampons would be hard to fit in. You can start preaching to them.
p.s. View through the window tells me backpack will need more in coming days, and not because of weighting it down against strong wind.

Statement of the caretaker of one hut under Vršič some years ago, mid-July; "you don't need any gear to cross the snowfield on Hanza path to Prisojnik if experienced"!
And luckily we are experienced, and had full gear with us... Just saying...
Not to mention lack of mountain knowledge, some caretakers by friend's story didn't even know which is Brana and which Planjava...mrk pogled

If you like it really steep "path along the edge" from Brezje near Tržič is right choice. For me by far the most fun. If you try the one from Huda Grabna also not bad. Option is up one down the other. Less than a km road in between you can walk.

Today on Dobrča from Brezje near Tržič via direct path. Path locally muddy and bare up to cca 1300m, there patches of frozen snow and ice start, below summit really icy, on top sun, on return past hut where friendly staff served us! Into valley we came in sunshine.
