The best is to buy in Kibuba, you can order everything online calmly, under each piece of gear there is a comment. If you're new to winter mountaineering, it'll cost over 1000 euros total, already boots, socks, crampons, gaiters and ice axe cost 500 euros, windbreaker and pants, pants you get for 80 euros, windbreaker whatever you're willing to pay, helmet, gloves, ...snowshoes, shovel with probe, ...never ends.
Definitely recommend course visit + get some company...don't go alone on demanding winter ascents. Midway through the tour you're nicely warmed, warm and wet from sweat, wet snow, in 2 hours you start freezing, in 3 you're ice man, choose gear smartly because it's crucial.

Marky: above all make sure you buy boots a bit larger than actual foot size: (blood circulation) we're talking half or one size larger. Boots should breathe and be vapor permeable, with stiff sole, preferably with notches for automatic crampons... They should be high enough, not too heavy and above all comfortable. No need to impregnate boots after every trip, just grease/spray them per manufacturer's instructions. Do NOT rub impreg. agents on rubber!
Pants should be comfortable, preferably windstopper material, or techshell/softshell, goretex etc... Don't skimp on pants, you'll regret it. Of course water-repellent and reinforced at ankles. Jacket should be above all warm, preferably thermovelour or other material... Don't buy extreme tech softshells and jackets. Biggest cost undoubtedly boots. For more available on PMnasmeh

I have experience with Hanwag Friction GTX model boots. Excellent, tested so far in pathless terrain, via ferratas, scrambling grade II and last weekend some snow above the ankles. An A.

They look very good, how much were they? And how long did you wait for them?

Boots were discounted from 320 to 190€. Bought them at Terra Sport and they had them in stock. All I waited for was for them to send them from LJ to MB. It seems they have size 42 in stock. Otherwise check.

Yes but those are technical climbing crampons for mainly ice and mixed and drytooling. Most have trouble already with hiking crampons so no sense discussing such gear here. For hiking crampons still heartily recommend C12 from Cassinnasmeh

Yeah but you can also walk nicely on hills with technical crampons. http://www.grivel.com/products/ice/crampons/15-rambo_4
I have these for waterfalls and for hills-tour skiing, no sense to have two. Regards

@blazek33
Makes sense to have two, heck I have three. Depends on the tour . . . for gullies and some waterfall one, for approaches and glacier tours another and for ski touring stuff the third. It works, each "fits" its own boot, I have three of those too. Plus two lighter ones for "just so", for hiking, mushroom picking, kicking snow . . .
And ice axes zmeden yeah, there are "machines" and ice axes zavijanje z očmi

Turbo, we're pretty similar when it comes to gear, with time (money) you collect all the needed gear, even with machines it's like that, there are MACHINES and machines... Just don't have one thing... urban cramponseek
