Yesterday (26.11.) from Suhadolnik:
Snow starts already at end of macadam forest path, but just dusting on ground. To saddle via Taško, back old path - both paths normal no issues, snow on path normally passable without crampons. Practically all markers visible, path trodden.
Above saddle more snow of course, but path nicely trodden, snow holds and nothing frozen. Crampons on at cca 2100m very useful, but saw people up and down without. Summit cca 30cm perfect snow - nothing mushy or frozen, holds well. Top clear little wind. Back same path, total around 7 hours.

Some frosty pics from today's Grintovec. From Suhadolnik on the old path and shortcut to Jame. Then up the wind-scoured ridge to the top. Snow just enough in this cold to be icy. Especially towards the top, solid ice. For skiing, of course, it still lacks 'lotsa' snow.
The drink in the backpack froze solid.

Hehe... thanks. I posted it at the beginning of winter so no one asks 'microspikes or crampons' again. Proper crampons cp'n are definitely needed for Grintovec!!

Has anyone recently gone to Grintavec... starting in Konec via Gamskov skret to bivouac Pavel Kemprl... up to Grintavc summit?... down to Cojzova hut and back to Konec?
... to make a loop trail.

I know they have to come. Rangers apparently can't, municipality supposedly forbade it (rumors among locals) . Municipality would do most for hikers if it restored previous regime, when by the prohibition sign it said "at own risk", now it's "allowed for parcel owners".

Has anyone been up there these days by chance? What are the conditions like? I assume it's all soft, maybe crusty? Is it even walkable?
From other pics I only saw that snow starts a bit below the saddle.

I'm also in doubt, since I'm more afraid of rotten snow than ice. On Thursday at 10 the snow was soft on top of Kam. saddle, because nights have positive temps too. I'm planning only on Tuesday for some Grinta, Jalovec or Triglav, if no more African air comes.
I had the right feeling. High mountains will wait a bit longer.
Rescue was needed today elsewhere in Slovenia too.
At 10 a.m. two hikers got stuck on the ridge between Kredarica and Mali Triglav during descent due to heavy thaw. They were rescued by GRS Mojstrana and SV helicopter with on-duty mountain rescue team. With the help of a winch they lifted them into the helicopter and transported them to the valley.

Last night at Kredarica temp didn't drop below 4°C, daytime 10. Tomorrow maybe a degree more, 0 isotherm forecast around 4200m.
Our group had some "ambitious" winter plans for this weekend, but unanimously decided "not worth the risk".
Tue-Wed should cool down, so in a couple days probably good for winter tours again.

Roof is still white... so I'd take full winter gear without hesitation, even if maybe not needed at the end.

Take them. And rethink the ascent. This week there were some slides elsewhere in SLO mountains.
400m lower and not far aside I experienced locally very hard snow / icy a few days before descent.
