Crampons and ice axe are still mandatory for Grintovec! Even last weekend the ascent with gear was ideal, several hikers without gear wisely turned back on the summit.

There is definitely snow, but someone asks if winter gear is needed. I advise him to take a basic course on moving in the mountains, then he won't ask such nonsense!

I watched Brnik cameras but can't see much these days because lots of clouds.
We don't have necessary winter gear and don't intend to buy it now.
So we'll wait a bit more.

I'm announcing myself again. Really objective answers about conditions somewhere are not obtained on such forums where all sorts of know-it-alls write, but inquire at the meteo service and mountaineering association and finally also at mountain rescuers! I'm horrified by someone's advice that conditions on Grintovec can be seen from pictures (from the airport???). I've been hiking in the mountains for 50 years; such advice means nothing to me, on the contrary it can be very misleading since they are subjective! Nice mountaineer greeting! Tone

On this forum there is still better quality info than on various FB groups, as there is a smaller share of corona hikers and a larger share of experienced ones 
Anyway, the person asked if there is snow/winter gear necessary. Since she got an affirmative answer, but doesn't have winter gear/experience in such conditions, she smartly decided not to go (yet). I see no need for agitation here

Ticks are active all year in our area in Trnovski gozd and on Kras. Given the recent winters which are no longer like that it's no wonder.
