Jalovec

Nice greeting!
On 19.6.09 I did the ascent and descent to Jalovec through ozebnik. I started the ascent at 5.45 and on the path through ozebnik during my passage no rock or stone fell. Likewise during the descent. On the path through ozebnik you avoid places where you see that the most rocks fell.
At the top of ozebnik you cross two more snow patches before entering the wall. Just below the summit you cross one really short snow patch (five steps), which is very exposed and needs great caution.
I would warn about caution when crossing from snow patches to the wall and back, as wide edge crevices form, which aren't visible, spreading from below up and inwards.
There were quite some snowfalls last week, so conditions can be very changed.
Safe steps everyone!

I'm also interested how the paths to Jalo'c are mežikanje

Going to Jalovec first time. No issues with exposed parts.

Up via Jalovško škrbina, down to Kotovo sedlo or hut under Špičko. Depends on chosen start Very Happy of course.

What's the situation from Tamar or Trenta? Snow patches, icy slabs?
Which path do you recommend, those who've done both?

Triglavski, I need info if there is snow on the jalovec-kotovo sedlo path, is it OK? I would go on Saturday and sleep in the hut under špička. If you might be nearby we would be glad if you keep us company!

I'm also interested if the path from the Shelter under Špička is dry?

Also, even if not, there shouldn't be problems, because there is appropriate equipment with which you can help yourself.

I was on Jalovec on Sunday and there's still just a tiny bit of snow if you go from Tamar a little before the top.....from the shelter under Špička there's no snow as it's sunny exposure and everything melted....

I'm wondering if anyone was on Jalovec these days from Tamar over Kotovo sedlo or if winter gear (ice axe, crampons) is still needed.

Over Kotovo sedlo, the path is dry. Only in one gully a bit below the summit there's one snow patch, which can be bypassed on the upper side... an ice axe for extra safety isn't superfluous.

Eskubik, do you have any more pics from the Jalovec-Kotovo sedlo path, since I'm preparing for Sunday on Jalovec?

7.08.'09 at 6:00 my friend and I started from Tamar to Jalovec for the last trip of our vacation.
We went past the Bivouac at Kotovo sedlo (congratulations to the architect and all people who participated in the construction). The path is beautiful and physically quite demanding. Protections are in place and if one is used to heights there is no problem. We were at the summit at 10:00 which seemed too fast to us, but we noticed that other people weren't worse (and there were faster ones too).
Views were wonderful, a path to remember. Jalovec is really a jewel. From below and when you're on it.
For descent one man advised against the path through Jalovško škrbina (apparently protections are damaged), we went down the same path to Kotovo sedlo and then towards Ozebnika. It turned out as a bad decision because the scree isn't nice for going down and we dragged almost four hours.
Greeting to all who maintain markings and protections because they do excellent work.

Judging by the gear it's obviously alpinists - quite likely with alpinistic experience on much more demanding snowfields, who objectively determined that such a way of crossing those 10m of snow is appropriate and for them completely safe... I might be wrong, anyway it's not appropriate to judge them like this from afar.

Does anyone maybe have info about protections on Tamar-Jalovec path (over škrbina)? Apparently some damaged protections there at the start where the path crosses the glacier?

How about the barrier that closes the road to Tamar by car? Is it open all day or only until a certain hour? Also interested in path over skrbina, how are protections and snowfield...thanks
