 . These are two paths of totally different difficulties. From Kotovo sedlo up it's a stroll, but down it's not so nice. They renovated it a bit, if I'm not mistaken, then it's better. Over the škrbina it's anyway usually only for ascent.

One of the nicer paths, especially over Kotovo sedlo. The path is not technically demanding, but physically demanding and long, most strenuous over the scree.

TheClimberr. Ascent over the notch is more demanding, just as redbull sarcastically hinted. From the question I assume you go from Tamar. So ascent over notch and Goličica wall to the top and return over Kotovo sedlo. To me personally the nicest loop in our beautiful mountains. Satisfaction after the completed tour in the valley will be exceptional, especially in nice weather. Good luck

I read more than I write. Someone asks for path opinion, everyone gives their opinion, follows whining asses and asses. If it's too much for someone, go from Trenta or Vršič then. Here I couldn't hold back. If he won't make it, the man will turn. Personally nicest and easiest through Ozebnik. That's my opinion. Don't know wishes and abilities of the asking man. But can express opinion if question public. Pikica, for example, has her opinion, Redbull his. I personally would rely more on Dejan's words since guy bold but experienced and from his blogs can make my plan time-wise too. That's it, now hit me folks.

Pikica, best opinion could add your colleague Lizika, haven't seen her for a while .
Regarding the path it's as they said, descent surely best to Kotovo sedlo-Goličica just not suitable except in emergency.

BT88, my first ascent of Jalovec many years ago also went through the glacier, but that's because the junction over the notch simply wasn't well marked back then, otherwise I wouldn't easily recommend it to anyone. For the average hiker though, from Tamar the best option is actually over Škrbina gor, and descent to Kotovo sedlo.

Path through Jalovec glacier has been officially CLOSED for a long time. Probably not because nicer but because of safety.
And no path to Jalovec is a walk.

Holds every time I've gone through it and that's many times; it was officially closed. Caution is needed anyway. Jalovec for beginners isn't exactly a walk but for a somewhat experienced mountaineer it shouldn't be a big deal. Could say not for first tour over 2000 m. Although I turned my mountaineering story a bit wrong and it still happily ended Good luck

For descent the only easy path is parachute jump, all descent paths are very demanding full of scree and slip hazards. If I had to choose I'd say Kotovo sedlo down, you're spared the ridge crossing and even more uncomfortable descent from ridge.

Last year the descent from Kotovo sedlo past bivouac to Tamar was very uncomfortable for me because of scree on the path. When last week the slip of 39-year-old woman happened in these parts, I wasn't surprised at all. If you slip on this otherwise easy path on descent, your paths in this life are over.
