With the better half we decided to climb the sixth highest peak in Slovenia - Jalovec. Our starting point was Planica, from there first to the Tamar hut, then to the bivouac under Kotovo sedlo where the sun rose. The climbing part of the path went smoothly as we were early enough, on the descent from the summit there was quite some crowding. The day was wonderful, maybe a bit too hot, views were fantastic all around. We descended the scree under Jalovec's glacier snout and soon reached the hut in Tamar, where we refueled and walked to the starting point. In Kranjska Gora we refreshed ourselves in the ice-cold Lake Jasna, and thus ended a very pleasant Sunday. Photos on the link: http://matevzlavric.blogspot.si/2016/08/jalovec-2645-m.html

On Thursday I headed to Jalovec from Loška Koritnica and descended towards Kotovo sedlo. The path is beautiful. The more demanding part between the Čez Brežice saddle and Škrbina za Gradom is not so innocent. In my opinion, no section of any secured path to Jalovec has such a technically demanding part. This is also due to the pulled bolt, because of which the wire is not tensioned.

KlemenK's opinion on the difficulty is quite realistic. A few days before him, my son and I did the same path and at the start we didn't have a good idea about the course, difficulty and duration. Hribi.net states 7.5h for the ascent, which turned out far too much. We needed good 8h for the whole loop to the parking before the barrier with breaks. The path on the Koritnica side is luckily solitary and runs along a really picturesque trail. The start is demanding and the chance of losing the rarely and faintly marked path is quite big. Downwards in wet terrain it can be dangerous.

Jalovec from Vršič. Nothing special except on descent need to watch out because of sand. From Vršič we were on the summit in five hours, for descent to Trenta we spent 2 hours (from Špička down we ran).

Today we went over Kotovo sedlo to the top, then over Jalovsko skrbino back to Tamar. The path is nicely routed, fantastic views, but requires a great deal of caution and of course a secure step. There are really many pitons on the path, there are also quite some cables, so if not sure, just take and use svk. As many have written, it's a path for well-experienced hikers. Today conditions for summit visit were fantastic.

A.D.K. In Planica?, parking fee is collected, but if you're before six o'clock then there's still no one who would ticket

A ok. Thanks. I didn't know if the road is drivable to Tamar or if you have to park in Planica, because I don't know that end very well.
