Today to Kepa from Erjavčev Rovt (Dovje). On the return climbed one more peak in the ridge and then to Gubno. At the Koritec junction spotted Dovška Baba and via saddle Mlinca jumped to it too. Since it's there. Conditions actually ideal, just in the morning the ground above 1700m frozen, in pathless areas where I occasionally walked it was hard to find firm footing. No winter gear needed. Despite hazy clouds saw far, seems even to Dolomites (Vezzana in Pale di San Martino, Marmolada). Correct me if wrong. Alone at top, on the way met two Austrians, two ladies, two girls with dog, two smartly dressed mountain runners and one cyclist from Baba. About 300 m above parking deciduous forest area. Leaves on path slippery hiding rocks and roots, annoying on descent.

@j. thanks again for info on conditions in notch under Dovška Mala Kepa. We met under Baba True. Views were top! For Marmolada not 100% sure it was visible. Regards, Nino

@j. Završnica-Rute (we left the car at Lake Završnica and first conquered Stol, then along the ridge to Trupejev poldnev where we descended to Rute). Regards, Nino

Wow, from the car in Završnica to Rute among the brothers 50 km and about 4500m ascent and roughly as much descent! Sincere congratulations, Nino!

FB - Landslide on the road where it was already repaired. Author of the post and photos is Zvone Miklič.. Zvone Miklič April 29 at 12:33 · Landslide in Belca from the other side - all the loaded scree threatens to collapse into the depths again, so don't risk it and don't walk across the landslide (from the tracks I'd say some are playing with their fate) Majda Gašperin - Is this where they repaired it once before? Zvone Miklič - Yes, above the sawmill in Belca or just before the tunnel.

Based on the above pictures, you only have Erjavčev rovt left. If the road is bad, there's a marked path from Dovje. Or try from Srednji vrh over Grajšca and along the ridge over Jepca. It's quite long though.

Yesterday I went to Kepa from Erjavčev rovt. I was worried about the road, based on Ljubica Š.'s comment that you need an off-road vehicle. But it wasn't necessary, as the road is in very good condition. Water has slightly eroded it in some places, but there was no danger of getting stuck anywhere. The safety gear on the path is also in excellent condition. Great caution is needed when crossing crumbly slopes, and a helmet isn't superfluous.

With Tadej we do some easier-also exploratory tours together every now and then. This time we headed from the Austrian side to the third highest peak in Karavanke-to Kepa, Austrian Mittagskogel-2143m. Ziljaks call it Jepa, Rožani Kum-interesting, right. As known, Karavanke are divided into about nine groups. Kepa is the main carrier of the group. Named Group of Kepa and western Karavanke ridge. It's the only group of Karavanke lying in three countries. The central ridge of the group is divided into several subgroups, one is subgroup Kepa. The entire Kepa group includes known peaks like Vošca, Trupejevo and Maloško poldne, both Bavhi, Kresišče. So we drive through Ljubelj tunnel to Austria. A bit harder, at least for me, to describe how to reach the starting point on these Austrian roads. At the end we turn left in front of some hotel. Should be Borovec-Austrian Woroutz-here are signs for Kepa. We drive past the hamlet Kopank. At the first junction turn right onto forest road-marked. We drive through the forest on this gravel road for quite a few kilometers. Since the road is in poor condition we didn't go to the end to the starting point-called Iljčev rut. Beyond the starting point the road to Bertahütte is closed, we walked about twenty minutes. On the return we came back on this road. From this parking lot along path 680, which takes us right to the top of Kepa. From start to Berta hut about one hour walk. Berta hut is a nice log cabin, located on the northwest edge of the Borovščica pasture (Ferlachealm), or on the same-named saddle under the southern slopes of Komnica (Ferlachspitze-1739m). Managed by the section of Austrian Alpine Association from Villach. From the hut two hours walk to the top. The path is nicely laid out. Nicely equipped with wooden steps. We go over several crumbly gullies-also wire ropes help us. Over these gullies helmet use recommended. On the left side continuously crumbly wall of Dovška Mala Kepa. After about one and a half hours we reach the saddle between Kepas, where the state border is and a steep ascent awaits to the top of Kepa to the large three-meter cross. Stamp is a bit more left of the cross-sadly the logbook in the box is full-torn and wet. A bit lower right another cross. View from Kepa is one of the best in Karavanke, unfortunately just at our arrival to the top fog came from somewhere and stole the view from us.

I'm interested if the footpath from Belca along the Belca stream valley (under the landslide) is safe. Given what happened last year, the road for cars won't be passable for a very long time.
