In the core area of TNP cycling is prohibited by law. As long as it's like that, applauding such behavior is out of place.

The only contentious thing is that cycling in TNP is prohibited, period.
...even if it seems so stupid to some of us, because bike tires don't do more damage than poles, crampons and ice axes...

bbugari1, I don't see any serious dangers from Kredarica down, from the top sure. To Kredarica anyway everything that crawls gets there. In summer even to the top with SUPs, pools, bikes.. and more could be found.

Yesterday (Monday, 20.01.2020) from Krma and back. On the road to Lese about a cm of snow fell, so no issues except a small cross torrent 100 or 200m before parking, which can be driven across carefully.

Almost no snow in forest, few cm new above treeline, at Prgarca about 10 cm, on Ulicah more. Path nicely trampled but not smoothed, walking easy. Put on crampons due to hard base under new snow and comfy walking a bit below Ulicah. Near Snežne konta areas sinking to knees or more. Group of guide and three lads breaking trail 10 min ahead crossed below Vrh Snežne konta carefully one by one. Caution needed, sugary snow on this avalanche-prone slope quite unstable. Elsewhere snow mostly windblown and firm, conditions still ideal despite recent falls.

Only five of us in hut (rare) and friendly staff, fire crackling nicely in fireplace. Wouldn't want to leave!

Evening drove past Mojstrana in dark, saw small local ski hill lit and running cheerfully. Nice and praiseworthy!

The path above the tree line is covered with a few cm of snow, but pleasantly trodden and does not slip.

At Prgarca you put on gaiters, crampons a little below Ulicami.

Slightly less sunlit are Mali and Veliki Draški vrh, Tosc and Vernar.

Despite the glaring sun, it was -11 degrees at Kredarica with wind around 20 or 30 km/h.

Thanks all who diligently reported conditions all week. No info so I misjudged snow and came without skis.

Conditions for skiing to Mali polje good. Lower only for quiet ones.

After a good month, I decided to take this route again yesterday. Due to the deep torrent gully, most of us parked by the road, 200m before the parking lot. There's no snow down below, but completely smooth ice, so it's not worth pushing further from the basin. The path is also very icy and is nicer to overcome at least to the middle of the forest with crampons, especially on the descent. Higher in the forest and among the bushes there's some new snow that has bonded well with the base and walking is a pleasure. There were quite a few visitors, for some it was a full-day undertaking, despite very favorable weather and snow conditions. After the last snowfall, the first tracks were surely not laid by 'friends of Triglav' or 'Svedri', as most tracks head somewhere to the right, towards Stanic. eek

The day was windless, visibility excellent, temperature too, snow was breaking just right on the descent. I was glad to meet Jurij, a user of this portal, among the visitors also some Hungarians and Croats. The little bridge in Dovje is still being repaired, so I returned home from Dani via Mojstrana.

A little below Kredarica. Little Triglav.

Blueness, whiteness and unfortunately too much grayness for this time of year.

Kotel with Rokavi and Oltar. And also a riddle. Piece of which mountain is also in the picture? Whoever answers first, I'll buy him a beer.

Even 2m of snow is too little for this time of year.

500 - Internal server error: It prints this to me sometimes too. All I do is reopen the same window once more, and it's fine. It always opens for me the second time.

Some more pics for friends. Spring-like weather. Spring skiing to Malo polje. Unfortunately I skied to Vrtaca, where there's an icy crust that breaks through in places.
