Some pics again for friends (and everyone else). Nice sunshine at Kredarica at -10 degrees and wind gusts of 140 km/h (as usual only the last few elevation meters to the hut). Snow above Prgarca hard in places, I was without skis today but three guys were already skiing today. Igor

Great But you say hard in places, I thought it would be more or less or at least 90% hard Good luck

Saturday 22.1.2022 we go for sunrise. Forecast is very nice, just wind at Kredarica up to 70 km/h. OK, not a big deal, ski goggles in backpack and go. When I wake up, I check forecast for valley, almost no wind. Super. Arso showed snow at Kredarica, hm? At 3:30 we start a few meters before Kovinarska, space for 7-8 cars. At Kovinarska space for 4 cars, there we help Croatian brothers stuck with VW van. They say plan to Triglav. Path well trodden, snow hard, full winter gear mandatory, as Calvary can be unpleasant slide. As predecessor before me wrote strong wind starts few meters before Kredarica. First-hand info gust 122 km/h in morning. Snow shown on Arso because stations detect snow blown by wind. On return below Calvary meet Croats again, tell about wind, probably changed plan.

Still valid: parking at Kovinarska hut and mandatory crampons...? For Tuesday almost ideal conditions for winter ascent are forecast.

Still, parking for 3-4 cars, turning is challenge. Crampons the real ones, not mini-crampons.

You also have parking in Radovna, no challenge needed to park there

Parking at Kovinarska hut hides two or three traps (deep snow holes - if you drive into them you have a problem). Below slope ca. 200m before Kovinarska hut space for ca. 10 cars. Road to this parking OK even for normal car. Some today's pics. Snow of all kinds, only no ice encountered. As for crampons and ice axe, pics show snow, so you need them. Regards Igor

Today record low temperature at Kredarica. Such ones could make even Antarctica envious of us. Maybe meteorologists had some drink.

How is parking before Kovinarska now (200m before hut)? Can you get there just with winter tires?

I would have expected a question earlier, if you can get there just with chains? Those who were up there today, I don't believe, visit this forum. Maybe Igor was there and he'll say Good luck

Heh Dejan, the question about chains is reserved for Kredarica, not for the road

The road to Kovinarska is passable, although in the morning it's one big ice rink. There's quite a bit of snow at the hut, so it's harder to turn around with a normal car. By the road a bit before the hut there's space for about 6 vehicles.

Some pics again for friends. Today it was also about testing brand new touring gear both on ascent and descent. 130cm long (or short) Hagan off limits skis are the bomb, 9.5m radius comes in handy on tour too. On the ascent I put on skins under Prgarca and made it to Kredarica without major issues. Descent as usual. Snow of all kinds, no more powder, but from hard to frozen southern on top, southern, ... In Krma there are quite deep ruts, with a lower car better not go beyond Kurja vas (of course everyone decides themselves), I had to put chains on at the parking under the hill before Kovinarska hut to even get the car out of the ruts. Regards Igor

Bravo, finally one who actually writes something about conditions. Usually they just brag that they were there (ego is ego) but not a word about conditions...

Was anyone at Kredarica today? What gear did you use? Where did you park? Thanks.

And still no hero who writes something about conditions on Kredarca? As our dear Francelj wrote: In Ljubljana there's a ferret that eats thick books, but doesn't give a fig about itself. No offense, I'm interested too, especially the depth of ruts to the hill under Kovinarska hut. Regards Igor

Yesterday, 26.3. at 4am start from Radovna, snow still held up there. In the afternoon everything softens and it's a real ordeal, constant sinking. Lots of holes and snow over bushes barely holds a person's weight, so caution in that part. On return the walk from the ramp in Krma to Kovinarska hut is tough too, because snow is completely rotten. Some parts of the road still have deep icy ruts, so it's not always that easy. That's why we decided to leave the car in Radovna.
