Kredarica

@bumslpepe, first of all, thanks to you for the "track" you pulled to Prgarca.

Anyway, I pulled it myself today with skis to Kredarica and was quite surprised that there were no ski tracks yet. Proudly I state that I opened the season!, of course for that reason I'm even more tired, since it was quite crusty.

Continuing the route description where bumslpepe ended... From Prgarca onwards one needs to be very careful, snow isn't too much, smaller patches have slid, but since frozen snow alternates with powder, something else might release on the slope, but I think it's not very dangerous. Exactly that snow continues all the way to the top. One step goes on top, the next one sinks properly. Better only on the last steep slope to the top.
The guys at Kredarica are of course always active, diligently do their work and ensure fresh tea is available, today they even cooked ričet. Given the wonderful sunny and even warm day, a slightly longer stop was obligatory.
Descent as usual from Kredarica is real rock'n'roll, crust breaks through, no rideable powder except where you wouldn't want it. Still the upper part is quite enjoyable. Middle and lower parts are real torment, during skiing I just hoped no one was watching me, as it looked like I was seeing skis for the first time. It all ended with about 10 more or less funny falls and of course burning legs.
Skiing ended right before the lower forest, otherwise it would have gone further, but pity for the skis, and knees were already burning so much it was easier to walk a bit.

Not to forget, with the car I came even to the ramp. Almost no snow.

Definitely a wonderful day!
Good luck everyone.

Today to Kredarica with skis, along also three snowshoers. Skis carried to Vrtača, then with them on feet without trouble to Kredarica.
Conditions for walkers - also with snowshoes from Vrtača to approx. 2000m difficult, because snow sinks in. Above that height conditions better due to harder slabs.
Skiing to Vrtača is good, lower all to valley doesn't offer any pleasures. Lp

Today's sunny Saturday Kredarica hosted some 30 visitors. Conditions are quite demanding, as Franci already described, since snow and track don't allow normal walking. Great majority were with skis, but even they didn't have ideal conditions.

Who knows how much snow there is from Krma towards Kredarica? Can one get there without crampons? I've been there in summer from all directions, also through Plemnice, but never in winter. But I'd like to try once. What do experienced suggest? Does the snow slab? Thanks for answers.

Under conditions, turn back some pages and under Kredarica heading you'll find something useful. Lp

Kredarica Saturday 8 December
With car one can normally drive to the barrier.
Lower part of path through forest is about 10 cm to 20 cm hard packed snow. From Malo polje to Prgarca snow breaks through in places. Further track is trodden hard. From junction past Snežne konti walked on icy crust on which thin layer of windpacked snow.
Obligatory winter gear (ice axe, crampons). In these sunny days sun somewhat melts snow which at night freezes into icy crust and is very hard early morning. On descent no problems as sun somewhat softens upper layer. Weather wonderful morning cold at Kredarica wind gusts 100 km/h.

Hello mountain lovers nasmeh
On International Mountain Day at radio Antena we would make short feature on winter hikes in mountains ... interests me if someone who was recently at Kredarica would be willing to say something about their excursion? How it was, how hard is it to walk in mountains in such conditions, etc ...

Conversation will be short, by phone and recorded (won't go live on air mežikanje)

Talkative hill walkers can contact me on mail: uros.bitenc@radioantena.si.
Thanks in advance.

More or less regarding conditions. Conditions to Kredarica are excellent. Well trodden and firm. No sinking on the path, only off the path. nasmeh Crampons probably from Prgarca onwards. For the top of Očak best to go early in the morning, because later the sun softens the snow and chance for snow slide quite big. Such conditions I have experienced but they can change from day to day depending on the weather. Last days have been excellent for going into the embrace of the mountains. Good luck. Bohinj guys because we are friends.velik nasmeh

Shame on this mountaineering forum! Is the attraction of anonymity really so strong that some can't restrain themselves?! For a few days I wanted to comment on this topic but the little pest beat me to it. Last year on Snežnik topic was so bad that...
Suggest that various... restrain yourselves and let others use this MOUNTAINEERING forum for what it is intended. Best regards! V.H.

Yesterday at Kredarica fantastic weather: cloudless sky and no wind - beach at 2500m. Otherwise path from Krma super trodden and firm, sinks only off path. Lots of nice pleasures to those heading to this wonderful world!

Luck helps the bold. Today I expected fog from the car to Kredarica, took skis just in case, ready to carry them down too.

But it turned out differently. At Vrtača I was greeted by a clear sky, the ski descent was the best this winter. Four were on Triglav. Let the pictures tell the rest.

I wonder if anyone has been to Kredarica recently. Tomorrow I would go from Krma to Kredarica, curious about the road in Krma and the path to Kredarica.

Today up again. Track in the style of brotherhood and unity. Trodden by Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in equal numbers. Today on Triglav none yet. First on Kredarica since Christmas. No special winter gear today.

Today had the honor to ski down the valley with Franci and Irena. While possible, the descent one word fantasy - mainly just right "stripped". It went almost to the forest, even slalom through bushes was fun. For a taste some pics.

With the car you can drive carefully to the end.
Without a signature, of course not1

As the previous one wrote, today was a great day at Kredarica. Conditions super for skiers and walkers.
Let me mention that at the lower basin in Upper Krma there is a huge avalanche from the last snowfall.
As mentioned, you can ski to the forest, where I and Irena left the skis, and tomorrow up again, maybe to the summit. From afar conditions look good. For a taste some more pics.

I will answer the question. We were four (two with skis and two on foot), with normal walking we took 3 hours and 45 min to Kredarica. But this is a relative figure. Lp
