Hi.
Does maybe someone know if the winter room at Prgarca is open by chance?

@DD check the post on page 49 by bumslpep.

Or I can quote it:

Prgarca is almost fully snowed in, but you can still reach the bivouac.

@DD check my pics: In pic 2 between roof and snow there's passage to left side of hut (entrance door). In pic 3 pile of snow between entrance doors and corridor to bivouac. In pic 4 the bivouac doors - which weren't snowed in at all.

I myself didn't go right up to the doors, but didn't see a lock on the bivouac doors (as never before, though I check often, since I've slept inside myself too).

From Radovna it's really quite long (all together 1.5 hours). This spring the road to parking will likely be plowed by sun itself. Needs bulldozer, someone with saw for fallen trees and someone to pay it all.

Huge snow, everything buried, even treacherous snow holes, so better stick to trodden path. Landscape totally changed, everything flattened. Today two with snowshoes and two on skis (me and see post under Na Triglav). Someone punched track to Prgarca. Foot hikers without snowshoes will struggle.

Walls shedding snow, some avalanches from face Debele peč to Tosc close to path. Huge cornices on Draški vrhovi and Tosc waiting to fly to Krma. Possible from Rž too.

Snow mostly unset (today first sunny after long fog), skiing mostly swimming in soft snow (wet or slush). Descent good. Bit late, slight crust some places, but skis cut nicely.
Almost everything covered1

Hello,

was anyone maybe at Kredarica today? What are conditions like for hikers up there? Thinking of ascent Sunday early morning, is anything trodden yet?

Colleague was there - rotten snow - only for exceptionally physically fit.
Maybe he'll show up on forum.

Yesterday we were at Kredarica, on foot, conditions and weather fantastic!!! Whoever has time should take advantage, because it's really insanely beautiful up there. But you really need to be in very good physical condition. Ascent about 6 hours.

We too were yesterday with skis to Kredarica. With skis or snowshoes no problems, hikers judging by tracks sometimes deep into the snow.
Bukovje looks very sad, practically destroyed. Higher up I don't remember everything so snow-covered and to Kredarica it's one big ski slope.

Cveto climbed to the top (demanding conditions), while Jankota and I went down to the cave, which is already showing its shape.

Back we skied through Kurica, lower under Draški vrhovi and thus avoided the devastation in the forest.
Down the valley it had already firmed up and we flew all the way to Radovna.

So with snowshoes you can get there quite normally, but how about parking in Radovna, how many cars is there space for?

PFranci10. 03. 2014 09:37:38
In the morning it's frozen, in the afternoon in the sun it softens.
From the crossroads it's plowed another 200m and space for about four vehicles, plus some space at the crossroads.

@lukapet

If you go early enough you don't need snowshoes at all, those holes PFranci talks about were made a few days ago. Yesterday almost no sinking, except a bit around Prgarca. On the way back holes form anyway, because some just run down, hehe.

On Saturday we plan to go with mates to Kredarca, weather looks good at least, but I'm wondering if the path is packed or is it good to have "spoons" snowshoes and how about avalanches.
Thanks and regards! nasmeh

if you're hiking at night you don't need anything imo.

But if you start in the sun, then I don't know

Was there today. Lots of visitors, mostly of course on touring skis. I was on foot, had snowshoes with me too, which were very useful on the way back, as the snow was heavily soaked on return, sinks to knees or more. Morning the path is well frozen, of course if you start early, I was at six. Parking in Radovna isn't much.
