That's the picture, Miša. Do you have maybe some zoom towards Dolkova špica?

The couple, as written on 24 kur, were properly equipped, who they were probably is not worth ringing the big bell about, at least I don't think so...

Don't mention 24.kur, because there it said too at least 2m snow on Kredarica... even the valleys were all in snow... wtf...

From 12 minutes and 15 seconds to 13 minutes is walking under Rž in the current conditions. Last week it was like that, now it is much more icy.

good luck

Accident under Rž shocked me and my husband especially because we walked the same path end of August this year. On Saturday 1.11.15 on the way back we walked from Debele peč to Mrežce and today when transferring pictures from the camera it chilled me to see two figures on two consecutive pictures (taken from Lipanski vrh towards Triglav under Rž on the ridge towards Kredarica). Pictures taken at 14:07 and they could be the mentioned couple. To me it looks like the persons were returning from Kredarica towards Stanič but it's hard to tell because the picture is not sharp when enlarged. Probably not many people on that path on Saturday otherwise they wouldn't have been found until Sunday... Tragedy that really shakes you, condolences to the relatives of the deceased.

@skuta6,
if the photos are in sequence as you uploaded them, the persons are returning. Probably the investigation will show if they were already returning or had just ascended. For them and their families it's the same. They are gone and that realization hurts so much, very much. And there will always be unanswered questions: did they slip together, did one want to help the other and then slip himself, could one of them still be helped, did they die immediately or did they suffer?

In our thoughts we can remember their families and empathize with them. We should reflect on the transience of life, respect and protect each other, and not argue over every trifle, it's not worth it.

@skuta6,
They were supposed to hike from Staničeva to Kredarica via Rž, but this part on the pictures is directly before the summit of Kredarica, another kilometer further from the top of Rž. The pictured part is also part of the marked trail between Kredarica and Staničeva, which bypasses the Rž ridge.
So I reassure you, but the people in the pictures are almost certainly not the unfortunate couple.
Otherwise in August I planned to go to Rž from Kredarica myself, but turned back 50m below the summit due to terrain difficulty... And conditions were dry and excellent.

Good luck!

Irina I completely agree with you; we really don't realize our transience enough and often spoil this our life with completely unimportant little things...
Safe steps and good luck!

The news of the couple's death shook me too. About ten years ago on this very day my husband and I did exactly the same route. From Kot we climbed to Staničeva hut and enjoyed the warm sun there. But when we climbed under Rž, conditions were completely different. This part is always in the shade and although there was no snow, everything was frozen. We advanced with difficulty along the narrow path and when we were already far, there was no return. With bare fingers we clung to the fine sand, on some sections we bypassed the icy path, I was already shaking from fear like a reed in water. Below us was exactly that 150 meter drop, we had neither crampons nor ice axe. I admit - utterly stupid to the end! When we finally reached the first fixed cable with our last strength, I was happier than ever in my life. Even then I knew that a second life was given to us, and today looking at our experience in the light of this tragedy, I'm even more convinced. Since then, crampons are in my backpack from September onwards and how many times we turned back out of caution and left the summit for a more suitable time. So I urge you all not to be too brave and take care of yourselves! Just one second of carelessness and you're gone! Good luck everyone!

Is the path to Kredarica from Krma currently dry or are crampons still needed?

Thanks smile

Crampons are necessary because a bit below the hut there's a circa 10 m snow patch, and to bypass it you'd already need GPS. I think it's safer to have crampons, because in case of fog even GPS can show inaccurate data (like being in a tunnel) cool

Ok, so GPS to bypass the snow patch, and hope no fog.

Thanks for info.
