Hi!

How is it from Krma? I'm planning to go up in about 10 days, probably still need winter gear then?

By then it will change quite a bit - for the better.
Otherwise, no gear has been needed to Kredarica for a while already. nasmeh

I'm wondering where ARSO exactly measures snow at Kredarica, because they say there's still 95 cm. From the camera at Kredarica you can see nicely that snow is only still in that hollow under the hut, everything around is bare.

I'm interested because I've been waiting a while to be able to go from Krma to Kredarica as lightly equipped as possible without any crampons and such and in low La Sportiva shoes, not in mountaineering boots.

Snow is measured at several different locations around Triglav Lodge at Kredarica, then the average is calculated, which gives a result that doesn't reflect the actual snow cover situation at all.

Yesterday to Kredarica to see the botanical garden that Franci mentioned and also to take the winter path I hadn't walked before. At the top, of course, the obligatory excellent coffee. Triglav hikes are already very current; apparently, one goes without winter gear. We left Kredarica in a shower of corn snow, which only heightened the pleasure of the descent. Back again on the winter path, this time with the joy of sliding on shoes.

Krma - Kredarica

When it smells of winter and snow... I'm here nasmeh

On Kredarica about 10 cm of fresh snow has fallen, it snowed today up to the forest line, where snow turns to rain. Finally pleasant tracing of fresh snow and peace on the trail.
In nice weather it will really be an idyll nasmeh

Had to check how it feels to tread on the new snow.
Although snow started already at 1400 m, the trail was mostly bare up to 2000 m. Further on snowdrifts began and under Kalvarija and higher under Kredarica it sank to the knees in places.
Except for ptarmigans and one chamois, there was no living soul on the trail. Still it was a nice autumn-winter day, which we made even better with friends at Kredarica. nasmeh

Regarding yesterday's weather, had to take a makeup exam today.
Despite morning -9°C and strong wind, later it turned into a calm winter day. I'll wait for the meteorologists' shift change, then continue.
For the return I chose the path over Rž. Already at the top of Kredarica there were drifts and further under Rž I was sinking almost to the waist. Diffuse light formed and visibility was very poor all the way below Dovška vratca, when the sun shone again.
Continued past the old hunter's hut to the valley. velik nasmeh

Krma - Kredarica

My piece of paradise, with the desire to touch it in the pristine whiteness nasmeh

Road normally drivable, to Kovinarska hut no snow, in Krma a few cm of newly fallen snow.
Strong wind easing to moderate, all traces of predecessor with ski touring skis erased. Joy and delight, especially just before entering the summer route of Kalvarija sinking to the butt. Towards the top blown to hard frozen base, crampons mandatory, searching optimal passages between deep drifts. No one has climbed to the top yet.
To excellent coffee & super company it's really not hard to wade through. Beautiful perfect Saturday! ☼
