No, if someone finds my pole at the top of the gully right of Snežna Konta Peak, I'll be grateful to him ;-). It has sentimental and some other value...

Has anyone been to Kredarica in the last few days? I'm interested if the path is well trodden or still collapsing.

BT88.... path is well trodden, in some places just a bit slippery, as predecessor PLOHA wrote, crampons welcome... weather cloudy in the morning, cleared up during the day so we enjoyed the sunshine... and some pics..

I'm interested what the path from the direction of Kovinarska hut via Krma to Kredarica is like. A week ago I gave up halfway due to lots of snow, fog and untrodden path

Now don't even try, danger of snow slab avalanches in Julian Alps and western Karavanke is 4th level!!!

If someone was at Kredarica today, I'd ask for a short path description and safety on the path re avalanches.

Can someone describe the path from Krma valley to Kredarica in winter conditions - rather now in spring. I'm a fairly new mountain lover so this path interests me. Especially what equipment is needed, how the markings are and dangers on the path, approx. walking time and up to where to drive by car? Thanks in advance for the answer!!!!

Winter approach to Kredarica via Krma is not that easy, not because of the path itself, but avalanches that roll over the valley. Now, as heat persistently climbs higher, wind-packed snow will roll from walls and edges of summit ridges. Definitely full winter gear needed and especially guidance from someone who knows mountaineering well and has feel for assessing safety of snow conditions in valley. No winter markers, but trodden when conditions allow. Ascent times vary depending on conditions from few hours to six, eight or even whole day with deep snow. Average in winter with trodden track gets regular mountaineers there in four to five hours.

Viharnik you are really a good soul, what if miran 447 clicked a bit on Julijske Alpe, and some other mountaineering site, he would find hundred and one route descriptions to Kredarica. I always worry about such ones!!??

Well, that's why Igor. Better to advise something within one's abilities than a mountaineer sets off without knowledge. Even myself now, as I'm just getting used to touring skis (practically figured out a bit how to handle turns, from direction of travel view and knowing snow-covered slopes a bit), I'm cautious. I ski terrains not too exposed to crevasses, steep drops and avalanches.

Triglavski - thank god there are people like Viharnik who want to help less experienced. If you don't like it, no need to read. Even less to give such comments.

Dear IGOR, no worries, Miran 447 is not such a complete newbie as it looks. I was already 2x to Triglav from Krma but unfortunately only in dry conditions. I have done a course for moving in snow conditions and also done quite some winter tours. I just asked for some useful advice from those who have been there. I think it's better to ask than to head out blindly on a tour.

miran447, I don't know what you did on that course then, to ask such things. At least regarding gear, it should be clear to you what winter equipment is needed. Dangers depend on conditions that change daily. Walking time is very individual and condition-dependent; some approximate summer time as a reference you can find on the net on countless pages. Markers are under snow in winter, so for winter tours you need to know the terrain or go with someone who knows it. The only sensible question is about road drivability. With your post you gave the impression of being a newbie, even a done course and a few winter tours don't change that overnight. It's true, it's better to ask than to head out blindly, but it's dangerous if you think a few internet tips are enough for safe execution; and it's dangerous (irresponsible) to advise people who don't give the impression (which can be wrong) that they are capable of going alone on the tour, instead of discouraging the tour entirely. You can find descriptions of some current conditions on forums across the vast World Wide Web, but that can also be dangerous if you're not aware that they might be completely different tomorrow.

Today I was up there on skis. Up top hard snow, in middle crust and bottom powder. Quite ok but that crust is annoying to ski on!!. Road to Krma is drivable. Path is trodden!
