After Mojstrovka just "little" more skiing and then to Krn velik nasmeh

Conditions in the afternoon quite tough, sinking even up to knees. Otherwise almost all bare to Zaslap pasture, higher up snow from 20 to half meter.

Well I went to check how it looks today on Krn. Started already at seven-thirty from parking at pl. Kuhinja. Day didn't promise nice weather. All foggy. Four hours ascent in fog. Snow didn't sink. Crampons obligatory, because path by predecessors' footsteps quite steep. A little before hut, sun showed and warmed nicely. About eight hikers up there today the whole day.

Since last Sunday a lot of snow has melted below.

At the shelter... Good thing I didn't see it, or I would have turned back.

The sky finally cleared. There was a slight breeze and the fog retreated a bit.

I was alone for a while. Then four more came after me.

I was curious what it was like at the top.

At the top I was alone. No one was in a hurry because it was so nice to rest on the bench.

27.2. on Krn from Kuhinja. Conditions excellent. Snow starts at approx. 1400 m altitude and is just the right hardness (no sinking, crampons grip excellently). Towards Krn summit slightly icy, but as said, no problems with crampons.

Batognica. Visible footprints in the direction of Škrbina.

Today I was there. In the morning snow was icy and equipment is necessary. But when the sun hits the plateau itself, it softens.

From planina Kuhinja to Krn. Due to the poor winter, had to carry skis cca 40 min. As a huge number of us climbed the summit that day, the path was well trodden, somewhat icy from morning temps in places. After a longer stay on the top, the sun just right softened the snow surface and the ski descent was ideal again.

Check the link above your comment where you can nicely see that the north side below Krn is still under snow. Usually this snow lasts until June. Of course everything depends on temperatures! Maybe boškokrn will tell you more about conditions jezik

Yesterday's day was definitely nicer than today's. As for clouds. Around eleven today it clouded over and stayed so. Still I thought less snow towards the top but there is still quite some. The last part to the top I went straight up the slab. Some hikers got up today. On top light snow was falling and it was windy.
