Krn from Pl Kuhinja is nicely accessible. No safety gear needed anymore. Regards.

You need to check the webcams the day before, so you know if it's worth going up or not. Snow will still fall, as forecasted. Only in May, June to Krn without crampons and ice axe.

Thanks. I didn't go that way. I talked to a villager from Krn village who was cleaning the pasture when descending. He said they'll bring the livestock to pasture on May 27 if warmer. Now it's too cold. In summer when returning from Krn I buy skuta on the planina, excellent.

Hello, does anyone know if the Silva Korena path is snow-free?

Yes. Photographed yesterday from the basin above Drež plains. From Drežnica, the snow patch was visible right at the start of the route.

Today did Silva Korena path starting from Planina Kuhinja, except one small snow patch on section connecting west path and Silva Korena (easy bypass) path fully snow-free.

Everything is fine and correct, only the path S Korena starts above Drežnica. That is just a smaller part of the mentioned path or direction

I agree with mirank. Where it joins you are almost already at the top so that info is misleading.

I always thought that the Silva Korena path is only that last part (from the sign onwards) the other is just the path from Drežnica.

Mašera writes in the guide 50 via ferrata routes: "At around 1900 m altitude we climb to a distinct shoulder in the middle of the wall, where a horizontal ledge branches off to the right, along which the Western Drežniška route withdraws from the wall. On the shoulder, which local mountaineers christened "Leva", the Silva Korena route begins."

And the sign directs to the Silvana Korena path.

Has anyone gone from Drežnica via Silva Korena to the top in the last days? How is that snowfield from the picture, can it be bypassed?

On the plate, there was obviously no space left for the letter A.

Lijaneja hello! Maybe the markers meant Silvo Koren then no letter A is missing. Good luck!

Ljaneja quotes, "What is written on the plate?" and not "What is written on the direction signs?" That's why she is right. Look closely at picture no. 2.

Today after 12 years again on Krn from Planina Kuhinja. Not much has changed on the path, it still drags like chicken guts, the sun was also properly heating. To great surprise the hut on top was closed. Due to holiday in Italy there were quite a few western neighbors. On the way back I stopped also at Planina Zaslap, as my wife ordered me to buy skuta. I wanted a hoppy drink more and luckily got both. Friendly cheesemaker quickly explained cheese production process and showed me the inside of the hut. Though the planina is over 100m off the main path I didn't regret stopping there. In the end I went also to Tolminka spring and thus ended a wonderful day.
