I'm interested if you have any information about the path Krn Lake-Krn? Is there a lot of snow? Thanks!

Yes, we need to wait at least another month or so, until it really melts, if there's a period of nice weather

I was up there the day before yesterday on the south side. South side is dry and suitable for everyone.

Planned to go to the lake but conditions weren't suitable for me. Snow still in patches around 45 degrees at approx. 2000m under Krn. For crossing it'd be good to have ice axe, less experienced also crampons. Snow partly collapses.

Yesterday's Krn from planina Kuhinja via Krn saddle. Path without issues, despite foggy and cloudy weather, quite a few hikers.

Krn is probably already normally (snow-free) accessible also via Krn Lake?

Hello, has anyone walked the Silva Koren path in the last few days? I'm interested if there's still snow at the entrance to the climbing part of the path? Safe steps and thanks for answers

Hello, I'm also interested if there's still a snowfield right now at the entrance to the Silva Koren path. Has anyone been there recently?

I have the same question too. Has anyone been to Krn in the last days via Silva Koren path? What are the conditions? Is the snowfield still there?

While everyone rushed to the usual starting point for Krn at Planina Kuhinja, we chose the village of Krn for the ascent to Krn. Driver drops us at the start of the village and goes his way, we continue to Pl. Pretovč and Mrzli vrh. From Pl. Pretovč we go up the cart road to Pl. Sleme, from Planina Sleme with morning birdsong we gently climb towards the lake in Lužnica. At the dreamy scenes by the lake I can't help searching for similarity of this place with paradise, as a long path awaits us we continue through the valley under Škofič. Soon at the threshold and over Batognica we reach Krn, at the top big crowd awaits us, we don't let it bother us, leisurely descend to the shelter below Krn, turn towards Krnska Škrbina and descend past Krn Lake to Dom Klementa Juga in Lepena. It came to 27km and 9h.30m, with all including one-hour stop by Krn lake. Even greater luck and spice of the tour is if after long time you meet best friend at Krn Lake..

06/07/2020 walked the path from Drežnica, westwards, then climbing Silva Korena (return via the easier path to Drežnica). Just before the entrance to the wall there's remnant of snowfield that causes no problems. The rest is all dry. Path to the wall takes about two hours, then the real steep starts. Path is beautiful, but I'd highlight that there's lots of wet and greasy mud that sticks to soles. For me steep grass didn't cause stress, but this ground under feet that slipped quite a bit on rocks, even though I have brand new good boots. As someone already wrote, precisely because of that, need to be constantly secured on three points.

We started a two-day ramble around the Krn range in Lepena. Already at the parking lot there was a crowd, on the path to Krn Lake there were also many hikers. From the lake onwards to Krn it was less crowded. The weather forecast was excellent, but a thunderstorm caught us at the summit or at the hut. Soon the sun shone again and on the way back we climbed the summit once more, then along the ridge back to the valley. We overnighted in the hut at Krn Lake, next morning descended to Lepena.
