Samo, would you help someone in the mountains? Have you ever? Would you even know how to help? From your posts it seems to me that you're the perfect example of a couch mountaineer. Everywhere it's just smart-alecking, I'm increasingly doubting you've ever even been in the mountains..

Snow on Krn is okay, worth going in the morning when the base is still firm. In later hours the snow softens quite a bit.

Krn. 21.3. Lots of snow still up there. Yesterday it snowed. On descent the snow was crusty. Interestingly, the snow below was harder than on the last part of the path. In the morning at eight it was minus 5 degrees at the parking lot on Planina Kuhinja. A group of trainees reached the summit. Over the corries. They descended to Drežniške Ravne. I didn't go for the direct path to the hut. But left along the ridge. Zigzag. Also, the wind was icy, blowing the whole way. For views another time. Otherwise second ascent this year.

Today I went to Krn from Savica. Uphill it was frozen, downhill the snow had settled and it was nice for skiing. It added up to 43 km and 3000m elevation.

Krn in good conditions with little wind and normal temperatures, met no one. There were small steps, not icy. On the descent I watched for holes down directly to the planina and back on marked path to parking.

Krn 24.4. A day like from a dream. Conditions okay. On descent the snow softens. And you need to watch out not to fall into some hole. I meant in the snow. I went from Planina Kuhinja. On the usual path. When the snow starts, I put on winter gear and went straight to the shelter. At the top, no wind. Beautiful views. Since I was early, I didn't rush to the valley and stayed about two hours up there. On the other side there is still lots of snow. The lake is also in snow.

Today I was on Krn. From Drežnica with Maksi at 7:30. One snow patch is still on the way to the junction. I had winter gear but didn't need it. I think we were the only ones with a dog from Drežnica. All others from Planina Kuhinja. Snow is melting. We descended by the ascent path. Last from the top and also to the valley.

Thanks to both. Now Maksi has two 2000ers. Also Rombon last year from Kluž. I also didn't know so much snow had melted. I was surprised when they said from the hut you can go dry to the top. But today all were early. I arrived at noon to the hut, no one was left on the top. Probably feared rain, which luckily didn't come. Snow is still visible on Korenova. There it will probably stay longer. From Drežnica the first part drags through the forest. And you start at 550m altitude. That's about 1700m ascent.

Sika 2. is "Sleeping Giant", I know many people call it that too, especially locals. You took it from the right side.

Maybe someone knows how the path over Batognica is, already dry? On the pic where Vrh nad Peski is, it doesn't look like it, if I'm seeing right.nasmeh

Based on experiences from previous years, still very snowy. If not earlier, the descent from Batognica to the lake is full of slush.
Maybe someone has fresh info..
