Just reporting. We made it to Krn, yay! This weekend we stayed at the Hut at Krn Lakes. First day we went from Lepena (parking at the Hut already full before 9am) to Velika Baba, which is really worth the effort if you're in the area. Most people just go to the lake and hut. Some visitors to Velika Baba, but most of the way we were alone, smaller non-problematic snow patches below, flowers in abundance. Views of the hut, Krn Lake, Krn and other peaks wonderful. Evening we spent by Krn Lake when we had it to ourselves, crowds had left. Second day we were earlier (from the kitchen at the Hut, which opens only at 7am ) and boldly continued towards Krn. We crossed several larger snow patches, snow will last a while, but it was soft, just watch the markers so you don't miss the path. We had microspikes with us, but no need. Flowers again in abundance, clouds and fog coming in, I feared we'd have the summit in mist again, but Krn summit stayed clear for us too and granted us views this time, hooray! Lots of visitors at the top, all Primorci and us two Gorenjci ... To the shelter and on to Batognica, along the ridge to Prag and to the monument at Peski, dry. From the monument towards Prehodce there's more snow patches at the start, similar to towards Krn, but non-problematic, watch the markers and path course, snow is soft and that saves some scree walking. From Prehodce back towards the Hut at Krn Lakes, dark clouds threatening over Trenta and Krn all the time, even thunder, but first drops fell only right before the Hut, we were really lucky. During break and snack at the Hut the rain stopped and we just descended to Lepena, sun came out again. Only a long winding drive home awaited us ... New boots and backpack passed the test excellently, and so did we. In short, we spent a wonderful weekend in the wonderful Krn mountain range!
