"SamoK", so you don't belong to those I mentioned.

All the best and safe on your paths!

Uf, you guys are really incredibly tiring... Please comment in the Self-belay kit usage section, not here nagging... And how did you get to the starting point? Did you have your hands correctly on the steering wheel? Did you drive within limits? Was the safety distance big enough?

@SamoK, if for example I as a guide take a group on Hanz's to Mojstrovka I REQUIRE helmet and SVK from all participants.
But if someone asks me what I recommend if going alone, I'll say "as you feel" Someone who isn't 100% confident in themselves is of course very smart to use SVK, someone who is confident doesn't really need it on such a path.
But that surprise, or should I say outrage "SVK on Hanz's???" was completely pointless.

I agree with Trobec. As a guide I also list helmet and SVK as mandatory equipment for guided tours. Better to have safety gear on you and clip it if something gets stuck along the way. If you can manage without, then just don't clip.
The biggest stupidity is having all that in your backpack and not putting it on because you're sorry for 3 minutes of fiddling...

Because of me, an unnecessary polemic arose, yes SVK or not. I only commented on the clipping method, which is not recommended (according to the SVK manufacturer's instructions). cool

Panda, nothing wrong with you nasmeh
Otherwise, this type of karabiners on pic 12. are correctly oriented (gate/latch towards the wall), because the protection is on the outer side of the karabiners. Such karabiners won't open even if pressed into the wall until the user grabs them and squeezes from behind.
HMS karabiners (screw-gate karabiners) should be oriented away from the wall because theoretically when moving along the cable the screw can unscrew, the karabiner presses against the wall, opens and you're unprotected.
Both apply to horizontal movement along the cable.

I think this statement:
------------------
All who don't watch the clock in the mountains and care about our own safety go on this path with a self-belaying kit.
------------------
is much more impatient and out of place than any of mine. I'm speaking out precisely because of this notion that suddenly everyone who has been gaining experience for decades, for many years also under the mentorship of more experienced ones, are now practically adventurers and fools if they don't use these modern commercial gadgets on Hanz path.

@SamoK - Everyone has their own experiences, knowledge, personal opinions. Everyone knows (should know) what they can do, how capable they are.
But when it comes to a person we're supposed to lead, whom we don't know or barely know, I think it's right to treat that person as if panic will grip them in the middle of the cables, they'll collapse, whatever - THEY MUST have all safety gear (regardless of which very demanding path) and keep them under watchful eye until proven otherwise.

Come on, give it a rest with these SVK! Who cares what we carry/don't carry in the hills! I mean, because of SVK again such a fuss... And you fall for it!zmeden

This morning mostly foggy.
Met a group of Italians who went over Šitna glava. At the summit met three more who came via the south path.
Snow along the path just traces.

From Slemen I returned via the upper path towards Hanz. That section still partly snowy. The entry to Hanz itself is quite demanding as the snowfield is steep, but today not too hard. Snow is still a couple meters thick.
In the wall itself then just one more snowfield, which can be largely bypassed on rocks. Then snowfield on the scree below the summit, which poses no problems as it's not steep.

From Mala Mojstrovka continued to Velika via the eastern snowfield. Caution needed when crossing the lower part.
Descended via south side, no issues.
Didn't meet anyone on the whole route.nasmeh

Regarding gear, at least ice axe recommended for entry into the wall.
Upper path still partly under snow1

I'm wondering if there's still that much snow before entering the wall. Thanks and best regards

Does anyone have more "fresh" data on the conditions below the entrance to the wall? By the end of the week, the situation will probably change again, so even less snow...

Thanks.

Tinky, thanks for the reply. So that means entry to the wall will still be possible only with an ice axe for a while...

Best regards.

Under the wall there's almost no snow anymore, you can enter without problems.
