This time a bit different... today Mangart from Loška Koritnica. Path to V Konc a bit forest, a bit stream and beside it, then junction left Mangart (right Kotovo sedlo) up to here no specials, further path interestingly routed, most time steep grass, natural narrow ledges, so glad for rocks and chains, crosses steep slopes, don't slack as even ascent descends ... last part joins Italian and classic to top. But didn't fancy descend Italian, went Slovenian. At hut earned lunch and juice , then ride to valley (thanks), bit walk over LK and at car. Weather held, views more foggy but nice day

Rozka, if I got it right you went left at the junction below Kot saddle towards Mangart. I think I saw that junction when descending from Jalovec over Kot to Tamar. This approach to Mangart is not described on Hribi.net or am I wrong also about the approach. If not this year, since the season is ending for me at least because I don't hike in snow yet, then surely next dry season also to Mangart, because I already went up the Slovenian climbing route and back down the easy Italian one.

Thanks Well, Slovenian... really need to be careful especially because of ascending people and the rock friability and scree on the path. Otherwise yes Velkavrh, that's the path that branches left from Jalovec towards Tamar at Kotovo sedlo and then lower once right to Mangart... nice and solitary path

@rozka, is that section from the forest to Ravnica still a torrent gully? Last year there was also quite a bit of fallen trees on the path, and above Ravnica part of the path was washed away. Otherwise, the most characteristic feature on the whole path is "Huda škrbina", which you can also reach if you traverse from the bivouac across MKM.

Hi Igor! Recently I was also in Loška koritnica. Almost everything is as it was before. The path through the forest to Ravnica is still a torrent gully and the fallen trees are still there. But you can already see the "new" trail... The washed-away path above Ravnica is just as it was... Shortly above the fork Kotovo sedlo - Mangart (bivouac), a part of the path right under the wall, about 20 m long, was carried away by a rock slide... Many don't know that right above Ravnica (stacked pile of stones) a mule track branches off to the left into the forest; it is unmarked and in relatively good condition (on one part it is washed away by the torrent, but passable) and brings us easily along natural grassy ledges in the gullies to the junction below the bivouac at around 1900 m, where we encounter the marked path that we previously left at the stone pile in Ravnica. Very nice and gentle path, no chance to get lost. I recommend it!

Thanks for the detailed description, I was a bit surprised because @rozka wrote that there are no peculiarities Since a few years ago I renewed the markings on the entire path with a buddy, I of course know it well, as I also know the path you recommend. But that landslide under V Konec Špica made quite a mess in V Konec, lots of rocks on the path, as well as the always buried section of the path that you mention.

Igor thanks! I think it would be good to at least indicate the start of the mule track I mention in the previous description, so that visitors would find it and use it and thus avoid the dangerous landslide. That stone pile is too little. I myself didn't know what it meant the first time... When I went from the top, I ended up right at that pile... Above at the landslide there are still many rocks threatening... Whoever wants to go on the marked path from Koritnica or from Kotovo sedlo to Mangart or bivouac would have to cross the dangerous spot...

I believe it would be good to indicate the starting point, but I'm not the right person.

And who knows the path to Mangart Saddle from the Belopeška Lakes? If via Plazje, apparently you go up the scree, but that's probably more of a winter ascent.

Definitely more foot-friendly ascent to the saddle past the bivouac Nogara.

From bivouac Nogara onwards there are two paths. One goes towards Mangart saddle and leads from the bivouac to the right up the middle. No need to worry about orientation here, as the path is very well visible. The path to ferrata Via Italiana leads first along the scree left of the bivouac, then crosses the scree and good 200m above the bivouac gets completely close to the wall. The easiest way you'll find the entry is by searching for a small window in the wall good 20m above the ground. Helpful are also the cairns, which are placed obviously enough from bivouac to Via Italiana entry so you'll hardly miss. Via Italiana itself is known as one of the harder ferratas - but such a label is very relative, as most depends on experience and fitness. As for gear, the self-belay kit is essential, also helmet and good shoes. I'd add ferrata gloves, otherwise you'll get a blister or two. If you haven't climbed anything similar before, I strongly recommend accompaniment by someone with experience who knows the route. Good luck! LP Jure

ljubitelj gora: You quote a post that describes the path you're asking about. Read the post carefully, look at the photos and if you feel capable, hike the path!
