No, a couple of days ago I asked Erik (hut keeper) by phone and he said the road is passable and the hut is open ...

Yes to answer directly natynat004; tomorrow I'll be at Belopeški Lakes and check condition of Via ferrata italiana path (past bivak Nogarra) and Via della vita and report.

Bivak Nogara is collapsed, below still huge snow and ice, so without crampons and ice axe it won't go. Wall looks snow-cleared, but not sure if cables and protections not washed away too.

I expected big crowd due to excellent conditions, but none, at least not at summit. Initially planned without skis, but groomed snowfields so nice couldn't leave skis in car. Once warmed up, from bend cross meadows to snow and up. Higher turn to "Italian path" and below winter variant branch leave ski gear, then via "winter" to top. Excellent snow brings me whistling to "shoulder" under summit, bit of scratching scree and rock and at cross. On top two, CVZ colleague with daughter, up via "Slovenian". No others till then, mid-July. Descended together via Italian, I change at skis and go up under wall, they down. Skiing great for time. For safe ascent need full winter gear. Many slips recently in mountains, so post as good advice to all visitors.

Sunrise at the summit and observing ibex. Via Slovenian route, where some snowfields are still crossed - ice axe mandatory, protections OK. Return via Italian route, where a very long snowfield is crossed in the traverse, otherwise bp.

Hi! Planning tomorrow (Saturday) to Mangart but every forecast I check shows different things. Wonder if someone more experienced with forecasts can advise if worth going up tomorrow, since we have about 300 km there. Thanks in advance.

Given that you have 300 km to the starting point, I suggest you wait for nice sunny weather. It won't be this weekend. Good luck. P.S. Mangart will wait

yeah nothing to do,, looks like even this crossing won't be snow-free this year,, temps too low, and they'll drop even more ahead as it seems

Maybe someone knows? Today on the road from the saddle I spotted a chamois run over on the birch grove. Looks like the culprit drove off cold-bloodedly (as we're used to foreigners' attitudes), but with my love for animals I really didn't intend to leave the chamois there to die with a broken leg. Called 113, 112 and the hunting society too. Hope they managed to end the injured animal's suffering. lp
