I don't think much of that snow is left, let everyone judge for themselves if they are heading towards it

You can see it's bad weather and you have nowhere to put yourselves again. Personally I'd trust Igor more than Dejan. Because even 20cm of fresh snow can be a problem somewhere... First is GRS and has rescued people due to a bit of powder, second has nothing to do with GRS."zavijanje z očmi"

Interesting that someone on the portal knows how to advise for Triglav, but for Mangart asks me via ZS. High boots, spare clothes, gaiters, maybe an ice axe, and it'll be fine "zavijanje z očmi"

As I already wrote on Facebook (HRIBI, GORE - SLOVENIJA) - I had a mosquito in the room. It bit me twice and I couldn't swat the bastard. Then I lost it and went to Mangart to wait for sunrise velik nasmehvelik nasmehvelik nasmeh hehe

This weekend, the weather forecast for the western part of Slovenia is not looking good. It will be mostly cloudy with showers and storms. Not really mountain-weather if you ask me.

Mang. saddle, entry Via Italiana (some new pegs, clamps and new cables), then Slovenian route, snow in second half, also on top. Descent via the eastern ridge and then Italian, snow remnants on the whole traverse, further down dry.

Is the road to the saddle open? What's the condition (snow)?

Thanks

Road normally drivable dry, no snow except yesterday's precipitation, don't know if any will stick.

Which path are you taking to Trbiž bivouac? If going via Via della Vita, 4 to 5 hours to the bivouac. Then another 3 hours to Mangart saddle. There's still snow at the entrance to the climbing part of the via, so you need an ice axe and crampons are recommended too.

Yes, I meant that one. Do you recommend any other? What kind of path is it from bivouac to saddle?
THANKS for answernasmeh

I think this is the best. From bivouac you have two options. First option, descend from bivouac towards Koritnica, but after about half an hour turn right on scree (right on rock it says Mangart) and go along the south side towards Mangart. Second option is to go straight from bivouac along the ridge towards Mali Koritniški Mangart to Mangart. But this path is a bit poorly marked, and poorly secured. I think it's no big problem, whoever gets via Vita up to bivouac, will get up to Mangart here too.

Today we personally checked if the Slovenian route is dry. Snow remains are mostly just beside the path, only at one spot higher up you need to cross a few meters of frozen snow. At two places the cable is broken, but no problems. Italian side is dry, some new pegs and cables installed. Despite road closure above the hut under Mangart saddle, most drive to the saddle with cars. Nice weather, good visibility, light wind which was blowing stronger at the saddle than at Mangart top. Just the right amount of visitors, no crowd in the wall.

Did anyone go on the Via Italiana path this weekend? Are the conditions posted by "IgorZlodej" still the same? If I understand correctly, the path is passable without winter gear, but the Slovenian one needs gear.
Thanks for answer.
