Over Plazje not much snow, too little for skis, trail is trampled to climbing area and waterfalls. Further I don't know.

Mostly on the road, then through tunnels and under the saddle to get above the saddle.

When I stow the skis, it clouds over, but nothing bad, I know the path, conditions are good, track made, just the wind covered it soon.

Mangrt on Thursday. Past the Mangrtska planina on skis, soon I catch up with five snowshoers from Trieste. With these aids progress is much easier. I reach the first cables of the Italian route on skis. As I saw, the Slovenian route was half dry. The first part I go on the Italian, then turn to the "winter" wonderful conditions, soon at the top. I descend on the Italian, track of one hiker and one skier, with whom I meet lower down too. Ski to the saddle and further to the planina excellent.

Saturday ascent to this pinnacle over Plazje.

Mixed conditions with wind, fog, but towards the top scorching sun awaited us.

Shortly after you 3 summited, me and my buddy turned around (at the end of that winter traverse), as the last ascent was a bit too technical for us nasmeh

Sunday 19.4.2015

Starting point: first tunnel above Mangart pasture...couldn't go further by car due to snowdrifts. We start around 05:00

Just before Mangart saddle we already hit an icy traverse that won't let us pass without crampons. Further we try the narrow gully, but due to too little snow we turn around and continue on the Italian route. Conditions were more than excellent, no lack of sunshine and consequently the view was a bit kitschy. We still had the descent back and well-deserved beers! velik nasmeh

Early morning today was very well rewarded. To the saddle via summer hiking path-no snow. To the summit first via Italian route but only to the traverse then into "winter". Snow already heavily south-facing, so wading was something normal. Towards summit conditions better but partly snow in slabs poorly bonded and slip hazard.
Return via Italian past old hut to valley.
