Andrej Stritar describes *tough path* in one of his many wanderings. From the description it seems really tough...

We too summited Mangart on Saturday with our 11-year-old via Via Italiana and then the Slovenian route to the top. Beautiful views, well-maintained path.

The road to Mangart Saddle is dry and well drivable. Already at the saddle it was extremely windy. The ascent via the Italian route offers a mix of conditions, from dry, icy, crumbly in the lower part, to deep loose snowdrifts, wading up to the butt. Not much snow, cables mostly exposed. At the exit from the traverse, the SW wind shows its full force, swirling snow in curtains; towards the top it looks even worse. I decide to descend; at the price of struggling against the wind and face-cutting, the summit is not important to me. Two Austrians who followed me turned back earlier. The worsening weather takes its toll. Mangart, it was nice to see it up close again...

Here if you don't post, after 13 months there's nothing to look for in the current conditions section..

@Brane and moderators of this portal. One of the bigger problems on this portal is posting photos that are 2 or more days old and therefore no longer current for the current conditions section. Not everyone can post photos right away after returning home for various reasons, but we would gladly share them a few days later, however then there's no suitable section for those posts. The fact is that many of us gladly view such "outdated posts", especially if we haven't been there ourselves. Regards

Deniss, a few days or a week old photos and posts are totally fine, the above-mentioned post of VanSims however is over a year old . Which unfortunately has become standard practice with him. Just like the superiority over others present in practically every one of his posts.

I think some of you are unfair to VanSims. The guy just doesn't get what should be posted and when. Not really nice to judge a person just because not everything is clear to him.

SamoK, you are partially right, not entirely. He knows damn well how to label someone as some lower beings, especially when not to his liking And I'd really like to know where that junction on the Slovenian path is where he snacked, maybe there's a path to the right there to SE ridge.

"Last year end of September on Mangart." What's the problem? Doesn't mislead anyone about current conditions. More annoying are posts of those who post nothing yet still "post".

dprapr, then let him open a thread "hikes and trips of some mountaineer in past years" in general talks and post there, not under current conditions.
