Which of the variants in the pictures is comparable to Turski žleb? On Turski žleb, I've been in winter, multiple times, this winter though, with good conditions of course, I'd go to Begunjščica. Since I don't want any surprises, I'm asking someone with experience on both mountains.

Easiest route to Begunjščica is via central gully (50.14 on first pic). Of course none is easy, so gotta watch out here too (esp openness down where you can roll very far). Technically nothing special, just beginner gully. Once you master it recommend Y gully (50.13 on first pic), seemed a tad steeper to me. Exit from Y gully left or right, depends on conditions and pref, I like right better smile And pic with my route up central gully last winter.

Just before the last rock before the ridge (past which I went left) you can go right too, or turn right already 50m lower. Again depends on conditions and pref, but easy to find exit cuz you see ridge above you practically all directions smile

If anyone goes to the hills in the coming days, I recommend posting some conditions, any hill, because trampling alone is tough.

Hi!
Can you advise where it's smart to go in winter to the mountains/hills? I don't want to expose myself to dangers, so any suggestion is welcome smile

Also suitable are all Dolenjska hills, most of Notranjska, Pohorje, Menina is also very nice in winter -recommend!!!- and avalanche risk is negligible, Vremščica and other Primorska hills similar to Slavnik (not Nanos!), also Idrija and Cerkno hills, Posavje hills and more could be listed...

Snežnik from Sviščaki, nothing special, cca 2 hours walk, lots of snow and real winter conditions. No avalanche danger. Hut at top open Sat/Sun. Just go early, because it's crowded at the parking...

Also Nanos is suitable for winter, since Nanos is not only the summit at Vojak hut but Nanos is also at Abram, to which a very nice trail leads from Vipava.

Yes, I meant that trail from Razdrto which is really dangerous in winter. Recently someone had an accident on it..

Yesterday I was on Bašeljski vrh from Mač past the hut at Kališče. Trail nicely trodden (thanks to Kališče friends), not icy, to Bašeljski vrh goes completely safe and comfy along the ridge. Whoever in winter has no ambitions for high mountains and wants to avoid avalanche risks has quite some options: Kriška gora, Roblek, Kališče... These trails are well trodden, as hikers walk them who attend various events. Trails are trodden in a day or two after snowfall, and elevation gain is quite suitable (over 900 m).

Polhograjski dolomiti are almost bare. Yesterday only 1 cm snow fell. In the background visible Kamnik Alps, right Tošč, Grmada, Sv. Lovrenc, far left Črni vrh above Polhov Gradec. But on north sides still quite some snow, so up to 30 cm snow can be found here.

tomorrow sunny in high mountains
So says ARSO. Surely some of you will take advantage smile, probably not the only one who would be grateful if you write which high mountain trails you plan (preferably early morning) to tread. Regards.

No better feeling than stepping into untouched whiteness. Just boldly on the way "ugn".
