Mountain Accidents

Probably we choose our fate ourselves long before birth, so still in the spiritual world. Be grateful that you have many people who love you and that you are given the chance to continue visiting this beautiful mountain world! Nothing happens by chance!

and that's written in our language, Matej? Well, you rated how much time you lived after the "serious accident"..

Well if it's a bad accident, maybe even less than one second, no matter how fast the intervention eek wink

Joking aside: really hats off to the mountain rescuers for helping so selflessly and even for free. Here I agree with Matej of course.

As for Dejan, from what I gather from what's written he should have realized already at Vransko that the day just wasn't for the hills, not force it later. Well now it's what it is,... Get well as soon as possible!

weather wasn't bad, as some would have gone to the top then, but they changed their minds because of me

With irresponsible ascent he didn't endanger only himself, helicopter crew, rescuers were at risk. Accident can happen to anyone, individuals literally rush into it.

I think like this: Dejan has, that's a fact, miraculously survived. It's a story he'll never forget. Nor will he forget the help from fellow people, mountain rescuers and all those present there. In misfortune you see that people are ultimately good and no matter who the accident happens to, we're ready to help and always will be. I think at least most of us mountaineers are like that. Dejan has pricked many of us with his bitter comments, so he's kind of a love-hate (you either love him or hate him, nothing in between) member of this portal, but without his activity up here it would be much less active and interesting. Many times I've envied him some ascent or tour, but his comments, sometimes even arrogant, have also pricked me many times, as he didn't give the feeling that he has some sense for the others, less "brave mountaineers". But in his blog he clearly said and showed that he is capable of that sense and that he realizes without rescuers' help he wouldn't have survived. But it's a fact that man is small compared to nature and we must be aware of that (and consequently adjust the goal, which must always be safe return to the embrace of people who love us). And for that very reason I must warn you, Dejan, not to blind yourself. That day conditions just weren't good around Triglav. It was windy and ascents quite demanding. I was in the Julian Alps that day too and I know how it was. Saying conditions were good is just a lie. Many people wrote how windy it was and they didn't decide for ascent even before it happened to you. Pour yourself a glass of pure wine and think, on what basis will you next assess if a tour is feasible. On your ability, or on equipment and real conditions. We all love reading the blog about your exploits, so just make sure you'll write it for long! nasmeh I wish you all the best and many successful tours! And brains in hand, besides the ice axe mežikanje
Best,
Ben

If there is clear weather/conditions and you encounter south-facing snow, especially that descent from Mali Triglav, you step on a soft step and it collapses under you, if you're lucky you catch yourself on the ice axe or hold the cable, if not you go considerably lower.
For me this is no miraculous survival, but a miraculous coincidence that others were nearby.
There were people on Triglav and already because of the sun that part under Mali Triglav softens; better no sun.

@Bandzo...superbly written, can't be better. Dejan, happy for you that it turned out like it did. Had chance to meet you in person already and you're a good guy...wish you all the best in future.

Best, Igor

I wish Dejan to recover as soon as possible and start doing his mountain mischief again, at the same time I wish him to join forum talks again and poke the armchair mountaineers who now so gleefully and spitefully conclude how God punished him. Why does everyone think they know when weather is suitable or not for whom??

Dejan's posts are some of the best on this forum and I can hardly wait for the next ones, so I wish Dejan quickest recovery.
What happened to him can happen to anyone, even in perfect weather and top gear. That's why any moralizing and condemning is pointless. He's not the first nor the last who climbed Triglav in such weather, or rather they've climbed it in worse weather too. You can find such posts on this forum too.
I'm sure if it hadn't happened to him 3/4 of you wouldn't be writing up here and condemning.
I don't know why everyone who deviates a bit from average and doesn't behave according to some mold gets on your nerves. You can call it tempting fate, but where is the line between tempting and not tempting? And who can determine that better than each individual for themselves?

Probably you were all there that day, to know so much. I'm of similar opinion as my rescuers that day, that here you're all smartasses and weather wasn't that bad. Unfortunately, own mistake most likely. Now it'll be happy Monday again, I'll save and rather read your comments in the evening

cheers

Since your accident until today I haven't chimed in, now when some treat you as "national hero" some of us already have you up to here. Open a new thread, and leave Triglav alone.

Dejan, I wouldn't agree with you about this forum. Here you can read a lot of useful advice, browse beautiful photos of our mountains and of course come across some polemic. They are sometimes perhaps a bit too extensive or repetitive, but I see in them primarily a good school for improving one's personality. Since you're still relatively young, you could learn a lot from some people up here who know how to communicate nicely and argumentatively with others, even if they sometimes get some bitter remarks. A good example is Franci, who always says something positive, helps everyone with questions - even if they are sometimes a bit strange, doesn't stint and doesn't get into quarrels. I also like to learn from such people and expect that we mountaineers and mountain lovers are always friendly to others, especially to less experienced hikers. I wish you a speedy full recovery and many more beautiful moments in our mountains.

A few days ago I wrote something like this: "Well now, as Dejan has recovered, the spittoon is slowly opening (during this time my opinion was DELETED when transferred to another thread).
I also wrote that someone who went the second day to "snoop" what happened stayed nicely quiet. But he shouldn't have. This way spitting is allowed. I hope
to claim that Dejan stepped too much on the edge or
on the ledge!? In a figurative sense he walked on the edge for a long time. But this can happen to those who go every day as well as to those who go once
a year. So "Kekec" nasmeh.
Deletion is already becoming part of the culture and a way of solution nasmeh. But Lizika's statement remains: You're not worth help, too bad you didn't fly headfirst... Oh you Devil! Goodbye!!

PS: Anonymity should be abolished or deleted, which some will understand better
Full name and surname and photo. It's like Carnival all year; and all year winter

Unfortunately, quite a few comments here have been deleted and so some will again come out nice at the expense of this deletion, although they were the most offensive and vulgar towards others. Specifically, several of lizika's comments are missing, who is obviously one of the administrator's favorites (there are quite a few in this category) and the leader in insulting some users, although he hasn't written even one comment that has anything to do with the topic under which he posts. Even more disappointed me those who give + to such as if it's a joke. If a person practically wishes injury or something worse on someone, I simply don't know what to think of such a person.

@lizika stated:

"Bulči,
when you next lie under a wall, they will leave you in peace . . . you know, kekci

You're not worth help, too bad you didn't fly headfirst, that might have helped you"

What she stated is not the only one in this style from her. Insolent, vulgar, offensive for a long time. The administrators must decide: whether they will continue to allow the long-term destruction of the portal by one single mentally disturbed person, who:

- has driven away a nice number of fruitful authors from them.

- driven away an even larger number of people who came for information to the forum, but found shit on it caused by her and therefore will never come back.

- driven away many regular forum followers.

- who lives out her psychoses on their portal and heals her traumas

As I already said, the portal is theirs and they must decide themselves.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt if some read what internet trolls are and how to act in case of close encounter with them before using this and other forums...

In the mountains it's not enough to have good weather, good equipment, knowledge and solid physical fitness.
Often LUCK is also needed for a safe ascent and descent.
