One day more of us will get together and go, the problem is I don't know where the hut and Šajda saddle are

Or just, as the young say, go by the moon and take a map in your hand and you can't miss the path.

@Hribovc88 , you write: . . . because I don't know where the hut and Šajda saddle are Look, I assume you know where Klagenfurt is. Consequently you can locate Trbiž. Logical, right? Well, the hut and saddle are completely elsewhere. And if you start at the saddle, you don't need to pass the hut and vice versa So I don't come off even more , here's a very serious suggestion If more of you get together, you can do a wonderful tour namely: leave one car at Šajda saddle and drive on to the parking under Podkanjski waterfall, also called Obirski slap. From there climb to the waterfall, it's really wonderful and continue to the hut. From the hut then climb to Obir, actually Ojstrc, then descend to Obirjevo sedlo and along the ridge up to Kravji vrh and from there descend to Šajda saddle. Really nice and not too long

From Šajda saddle there's also a circular path: a few meters along the road towards Železna Kapla, left into the forest and along marks to the hut, to the summit and back via "turbovo". Regards B

Janezs, as I understood the road to the saddle is passable, even after the last snowfall? How much walking from the saddle to Obir summit? Thanks and best regards

The road over Šajda saddle is regularly plowed.

Hribovc 88 and Felix road is asphalted and regularly maintained. Last year they repaired the bad section just below the saddle-new asphalt. Sajda saddle is at an altitude of a little over a thousand meters (1069m). Path to Obir is time-marked 3h. Regarding circular paths as suggested by Turbo and Ben, I think better to wait for dry conditions, now I'd go with skis or snowshoes, but also time-consuming, now don't remember exactly how much we walked with Romana. To Kravji vrh, last time started a bit, snow deposits too steep and not firm, since no time available, quickly gave up. Still have last year's bad memories very vivid in head. Hribovc in 14 days will have time, offer as guide, tour will be easily hiked. Of course if you're for it. Lp

Variant past Podkanjski waterfall definitely in dry conditions. From P below waterfall past waterfall to hut approx. 3h, then approx. 1.30h to summit, to Kravji additional 1/2h and descent around 2h. Roughly I'd say the tour takes about 6h-8h, doesn't seem too much for nice summer day

Tomorrow we plan to go from the Šajda saddle to Obir. Given the snowfall last weekend and the current thawing, I'm wondering if there's avalanche danger on the path? From the photos, the path seems similar to the Peč path, if I'm not mistaken? Has anyone been up there after the snowfall, because if the path isn't trodden it'll be tough? Lp

Path from Šajda saddle quite visited (at least judging by cars on the parking lot, when driving by). Hard to believe it wouldn't be trodden. Path really similar to that on Peč. Also first part in forest well executed, no too steep sections. In these days views will be divine lp

Janezs, thanks for the offer, hope it still holds sometime in the summer Also in winter I'd go, just need to check the calendar first, now several weekends ahead already booked (PD hikes) Will definitely let you know a couple of days before.

Today from Sajda to Obir. The path from the start quite icy, higher where the sun didn't have such power, remained hard snow base. In the area of arrival at the pasture snow cover thick around a meter, since we were early enough it didn't break through. A few days ago hikers had problems, deep tracks remained. Towards the summit wind accompanied us. Followed entry and return back, for safe step 6-point crampons are needed. Snowshoes this time stay whole path in backpack. On return found goggles. lp.

Yesterday with friends did circular tour Šajda - Obir - Eisenkappler hut - Šajda. Across pastures to summit sinking, but not so bad. On descent to hut nothing trodden, same from hut to Šajda. Sinking up to ass. Well, since 13 of us, now well trodden . No crampons needed, gaiters very much! Hut closed.

Yesterday my friend and I were here for the first time in these parts and it was beautiful, solitary (maybe also because it was Friday). Path from Šajda saddle initially dry, then in places through forest very icy, last part of path poetry - whiteness with 5cm fresh powder, below hard, very good for walking. At the top an unparalleled view awaits you. From this peak you see practically all hills Slovenia has - complete Karavanke, complete Kamnik Alps and also Julians. Worth maybe driving a bit longer, from LJ 1 hour 45 min, and see our hills from this perspective too. Nice.
