Ojstrc (Hochobir 2139m) Austria

Today again on Obir. This time I made it straight from Železna Kapla. The path is very nice and thrilled me; to the Železnokapelska hut I met no one except a herd of chamois. At the hut packed with cars and many hikers, real pilgrimage path. No noteworthy snow; actually that little snow where it is can be easily bypassed, it's south-facing. At the top warm, light breeze and nice view into the valley on the Austrian side, but fog persisted all day. Descent same path back.

Is the road to Šajda dry (plowed) and to Obir trodden? Thanks in advance for info.

Does anyone know what conditions for skiing are? Enough snow?

Snow is definitely enough (judging by Peca having enough), since quite some new snow fell so up to 1700m it shouldn't be questionable.

Yesterday with friends from Gorenjska we walked a circular path. We started at Šajda saddle, with Uroš we went to Kravji vrh too. Then together to Obir summit. For descent we chose Obirska planina, at the hut drank something, then nice trail and tracks to saddle. Nothing special on the path, but we will repeat the tour due to poor views, the fog was teasing. Regards.

The barrier is there so that you go to the mountains mainly on foot.

andr3ejj I think you don't even know this area in dry conditions. Better wait and check the surroundings in dry conditions, then choose a winter hike. Regards.

If you still want to go, I recommend going by car to the Šajda saddle then up the marked path. You can count on 3 hours of walking to the top if it's somewhat trampled, if not then up to 5 hours, it's possible you won't get up at all due to snowdrifts, the depth is certainly more than a meter and where the drifts are even much more.

Thanks all, after all asking isn't a sin, I'll definitely think thoroughly about the trip, even if I don't go on this path now I don't worry at all, since I'm well aware the mountain remains

I'm curious where you saw that another name for Kravji vrh is Kurji vrh too, as almost local I've never heard that name. Of course I allow the possibility that I just don't know everything. On Kravji vrh there's a cross not visible in pics. So didn't you give up too soon and go home believing you'd summited ?

Next time, if you want less driving and more walking, start from the valley up, several marked and interesting paths, length 3-5h depending on pace.

On Friday, when there is less visit on Obir, which due to the view on our mountains needs to be visited in winter.
