Today on Ojstrc. From icy Železna kapla (-10 degrees) nicely to warm, as inversion again. Path is tidied, fallen trees removed, Agnes spring not frozen, quite a lot of visitors as road to Železenkapelska koča normally drivable. Weather cloudless and warm, light breeze only on top, view very nice - even Celovec and Vrbsko jezero completely clear. Very nice tour for end of year. Happy, healthy, successful and safe step into 2017 to all hikers, mountaineers, readers and editors of this forum. See you reading and writing.

Is the road to the hut open?

There were lots of cars at the hut - I consider it open. I didn't see any prohibition. We didn't really ask. From the hut, then I think, an hour and a half to the top of Obir.

Yes Turbo I know, but this year, when snow had already melted, we were there, but road was closed, machine covered with vinyl That's why I'm asking.

Has anyone been to the summit recently? I'm interested if the path is trodden and if small crampons are enough? And is the road plowed to the hut or is the car left at Kurnikovo sedlo? I'll be grateful for any information.

Still plenty of snow, snowshoes needed more than crampons.

Starting point Šajda and up to Obir, nice weather at the summit, some fallen trees on the path.

It's passable without issues and the Agnes spring is working.

Friend, everything in perfect order, but it's nice to see the wider surroundings. Don't rush to drive the car as high as possible, then fiddle with the camera...... Best regards. Such and similar things annoy me, also equipped paths; when they are made, praises pour in, then everything is left to itself.

There are numerous paths to Obir from various directions all around. Many of them are also from the valley and even more inviting. On Tuesday I made a premiere ascent and descent from Podkanje village through Krtolovec, Hofman pasture and Kraguljše to the summit. Even though I wasn't early, the fog lingered for quite a while there at 1400-1800 m. But on top nice, warm sun with little wind and nice view. The path is solitary and interesting. There are quite a few fallen trees that prevented me from going up to Jagovčeva planina and Mali Obir.
