Kumer, Olševa, Spodnje sleme
At 4:30 on Saturday we continued hiking towards Repija in the dark, refilled water there, stowed the lights and went on to Olševa. The path was completely dry, so we crossed the meadow without fear of wetting shoes. Sun greeted us on Govca announcing a hot day. Descent from Olševa also at an easy pace.

The forecast for this end of week was good enough and they didn't get it wrong. Except for a moment of strong wind on the ridge, it was pleasant and sunny, enriched with autumn colors and familiar views. From in front of the chapel first to Sv. Duh saddle, then along Austrian side to Lipševi vrata. Access to them secured (necessarily so). Return only to end of first cables, then steep unmarked path along walls left upward. Knee-grinder really big, occasionally greasy, just before end some more cables, exit almost at top of Obel kamen, west peak of Olševa. Continue ridge to Veliki vrh, good half hour from Obel Kamen, then descend our side past Potočka zijalka back to start. Nice loop, comfy 6 hours and under 1000m elevation, decent path offering everything. From lounging to slippery slopes, exposed secured paths to comfy wide trails. This time drove there and back endless turns via Jezersko and Pavličevo sedlo, hard to say where less unpleasant. Also via Kranjski rak and Luče no less twisty or closer, else farther. Anyway for mountains never too much. For other stuff, yeah...

Today from Sv. Duh past Potočka zijalka, then loop first to Obel Kamen and ridge to Govca where first time. Back direct past Potočka zijalka. Weather excellent. Despite very strong wind fascinated by the path. Worth ridge. Will return for sure, Olševa special for me.

Hello!

Maybe Sunday try Olševa (Govca). First time there and first so high in winter conditions.

on this path:
http://www.hribi.net/izlet/sveti_duh_pod_olsevo_govca_olseva_direktna_pot/11/673/1192

Start Sveti Duh pod Olševo (1240m). Road passable normal?

Path trodden normal? How much snow higher?

Ice axe crampons mandatory or at least crampons? Have both.

Additional hazards now? Avalanches etc? Asking cuz listed difficult, winter makes harder right?

Stamp on top?

Thanks for help.

This path undoubtedly better choice than Raduha from Bukovnikmežikanje. Snow south side probably not much left, crampons and ice axe take just in case. Path exposed for slip down steep slope at two spots. Good luck.

On Olševa many times all seasons never disappointed. When "serious" snow best from Sleme suitable for beginners dry in my opinion. Real winter path from Sv. duh not good choice. Stamp usually also at TK Rogar.

If there's no track over the ridge it can be an even bigger problem to get from Slemena than from Duha. Then the best choice is either from Koprivne or up from Ošovnika. Otherwise in any case you hit at least two slightly exposed sections, regardless of the approach direction.

Yesterday I was at Obel kamen, also along the ridge it was sinking quite a bit, so I decided for Felsentore.

Conditions are like this. Above 1500 m snow, which will probably sink in some places but hold elsewhere. So take everything necessary with you if you're going to walk along the ridge.

Yesterday on Olševa. Parked at Rogar, past Potočka zijalka in which there's not even one ice stalactite, to Obel kamen. Snow carried us well, so we put on crampons and along the ridge to Govec. We descended the classic way to Potočka zijalka. Rogar's dog kept us company, entertaining us all the time with his mischief - I could say he was watching over us.
It did sink a bit, but nothing serious. Avalanches haven't all slid down the valley yet and danger still exists.... For the ridge I recommend winter gear.
A group followed us, later we met more hikers.
The summit logbox on Govec is under snow - but the stamp is visible.
Nice greetings big grin

Today to Obel kamen from Sv. Duh past the windows to the top. On the north side of Olševa snow conditions good, in some places a bit more wind-packed snow. On the south side towards Potočka zijalka lots of unsettled snow, just waiting to slide down the slope. Path to Potočka zijalka normally passable, stalactites just forming. Road is dry.

SPODNJE SLJEME,OLŠEVA,KUMER in the frame of K-24

Boldly tackles the steepness, despite that need to lower pulse twice a bit. No fallen trees or snow. At the top we turn and over Mrzlega dol descend-odrsava, to foršnerce. Here still plenty of snow, almost to the bottom. Fallen trees lying across the path, later across the clearing, huge amount. Towards Kumer much better, just some minor obstacles. There we rest with Julija, so that we'll overcome the path to Peca easier.

Yesterday 21st May I decided to traverse Olševa along its length from east to west. First I was a bit in doubt about conditions on the mountain after recent snowfalls. So I set off with as many as three options for the hike. I would look for an old path from Solčava, Smrekovec-Komen, third was Olševa. Of course when I approach Solčava and Olševa appears all sunlit its slopes look bare only on the top ridge white patches of snow shining. Decision made immediately, turn towards Sv Duh drive to Spodnji Ošovnik where at the bend I leave the car. Beautiful morning with nice view clear sky without a cloud speck light breeze super. I take the road up towards Zgornji Ošovnik or that's where you go towards Bukovnika. Walking the road cheerful crickets singing, smell of mown grass, warm, everything fantastic. Along the road to Prodnik farm where I turn into the forest and up the forest road. Higher at about 1300 m I turn even more left obliquely to the forest clearing and across under the walls to the right. After a few steps I find myself on the marked path to Olševa from Sp Sleme direction. Path without special features. Step onto the summit part views open to peaks far around. On the summit part still some snow here and there but no obstacle on the path as it can be bypassed. Slowly walking towards the main summit of Olševa. Clouds growing so it got a bit cloudy as if rain coming. That lasted about an hour during which I advanced towards Obel kamen. Nice to hike like that when completely alone only one jackdaw for company, two mountaineers seen only from afar. When reaching Obel kamen it cleared up and short sleeves again. Descent past Potočka zijalka to Rogar farm and by road to start where my car waited. Super was total 16 km, 8.5 hours slow walking with breaks, as for hills and mountains you need to take time. More on blog and video when time.
