Tonika, picture 4 is under the lower window, through which you return to the approach path. In the morning we were the first on this path, we started at Robarj at 6:55. regards Drago

At these temperatures snow is literally disappearing from the mountains: yesterday Tonika and Drago reported snow patches on the hunting path to Obel kamen and snow towards the top, today some small bits still snow right below the summit, but nothing serious anymore. The summit part is completely dry, snow only in patches, but not on the path. The difference is well visible on picture 7, where Tonika's is still wintery, mine already summery. Slightly worse visibility today compared to yesterday, more wind, but at these temperatures it almost suited. The start of the hunting path is found at the first fixed cables before the windows, it's nicely followable, though steep. Otherwise a nice, picturesque circular tour offering beautiful views.

Hello Janezs. You mention that from Zg. Slemena to the ridge there's still some snow. Does it pose an obstacle, is ice axe, crampons, gaiters needed...? I know the path, in summer it's a walk, in winter something completely different. True, it's already a week around, but any info welcome. Lp.

Hello, pavaonurmi. It will indeed be a week since my visit to Olševa. That snow I mentioned has probably melted by now or very little left and won't pose obstacles. Before reaching Gladki vrh (start of the flat part of the path from upper slemena) in winter there was drifted over two meters of snow. But there's still some snow in Mrzli dol. Here no need for ice axe, maybe gaiters if not tracked. Lp.

Janezs thanks for the reply. I already checked the path condition from Slemena to Govca today by myself. No snow, path is in good condition, just a few broken branches or dry twigs in places. But a medium strong south-westerly spoiled the spring idyll. However the day was to be taken advantage of. Lp.

I plan to go to Govca from the starting point at Rogar. I'd like to go to Lipševi vrata too, wondering if the junction is marked. How long does it take from that junction to all three gates and back to junction. Or is it better to continue towards Obel kamen - if there's a marked path to Govca from Lipševi vrata? Thanks!

Austrians have marking "Felsentoren". It's located where the junction for Potočka is. From the fork you'll walk to the first gate cca. 30min. To Obel kamen you can also climb via (from the start) unmarked path (when going towards gates a bit before first gates you see junction right). It's quite steep.. lp

yesterday did a nice trip to Olševa (via Potočka zijalka), no more snow - just one patch down on north side, no stamp pad at the top!!

Best to carry the stamp pad with you, usually none on the peaks.

Kumer, Olševa, Spodje sleme. After a small snack, changing shoes we head towards Olševa. Now for some time we've been walking without full lights. At Repija we fill gallon with fresh water. After morning fog promises nice day, which affects also pleasant walking pace. First part of path along road, later trail through forest. We see quite some different animals, all with same goal, richest breakfast. Across pasture meadow we look for most grazed areas, due to high dewy grass. After Mrzli dol sun shines strongly already, our trail climbs in shade. To summit Govca we arrive rested and in good mood. Follows entry and right away part of path on same trail. Here forest animals replaced by sheep. On the way we ask each other if we remember how the condition on winter paths was. Such paths and events you almost never forget, but this way time passes faster for us. Quickly lower sleme appears before us. Overall path nicely hikeable without difficulties. Lp.

Kumer, Mrzli dol, Olševa Spodnje sleme Now it's already light enough, no more need for lamps. We swap some gear pieces, take each one sandwich which we eat on the way. Before eight we step on Govca. I'd praise Markaciste for the work done and that they didn't remove my work, as did the markaciste on path from Kramarca to Krizana. But I'd ask them where they were last three, four years, when I set old signpost upright and turned to right direction, that wasn't once, not talking about the trail itself. That led me to decision to buy zago and scissors and get to work. But let's leave this topic in peace. Well with summit book on Govca there's already years-long problem. Sometimes hikers don't close the cover and booklet soon ends. Our descent towards Slemeno goes without issues we already meet first hikers striving to Olševa. LP. ps This hike was also for K24

First to the top of Peca, then to Knepsovo sedlo. Approximately two hundred meters above the saddle and just as much below Kocnikov vrh keep to the left direction, towards Kumru. The path is marked. From Kumer along the road above sv. Ana, past Repija. From the stream onwards it's a less driven road, which later is replaced by a trail. I could write more, but the path is well marked, this year some new signs have been put up too. So, you won't have problems on the path. Have a nice time on Koroška.
