KUMER,OLSEVA,SPODNJE SLEME As quietly as possible, so as not to wake the hosts, we equip ourselves from the car with necessary things, we also take larger supplies, because there won't be a car on the ridge. The boot from the descent of Peca stayed dry, so no change. Now we also find out the source of two lights on the road above us at the foot of Peca. Two guys arrived who also wanted to register in the K24 club. After a few words, they went on, they gave the impression of well-motivated athletes. With Tomaž during the snack, which took place while walking, we wonder if we'll see them again today. A beautiful clear but cold night accompanies us towards Olševa. The new battery serves me well. At the trough we catch up with our predecessors. Here we chat a bit more. I'm mainly interested if they know the path, what plans they have regarding time, how much they've invested in preparations and how else they're active. They stayed quite a while at the water, so Tomaž and I go ahead. We pass Mrzli dol without problems. We reach the top of Govca at 5:40. After signing, we descend immediately, on the way we greet Jaka and his friend once more. Then we don't hurry too much along the ridge. The sun is still sleeping, so we sing a little, when the sunrise starts, we take pictures and hit the gas. In the beautiful morning we reach spodnje sleme. Here Tomaž changes socks, and we head to the new chapter. Conditions on the path, except for a fallen dry tree on the path, nothing. I'll wait a bit for the markers, then I'll tackle it myself. Regards.

SPODNJE SLEME-GOVCA-KUMER In beautiful, not too hot weather we hurried to the ridge of Olševa. Sweat poured from our bodies in streams. Our effort was quickly rewarded. On the path except for a fallen tree nothing special. Between St. Ana and Kumer we saw Gada.

Yesterday I also went to Olševa. Probably didn't meet Primoževi, well judging by the picture they were at the top anyway before that radio amateur I met there set up his antennas. I park at Strevec, then head towards Sedlo Sveti Duh, where the border with Austria already is. Down goes to Železna kaplja but I go right. Then along the border for a while then the path climbs a bit away from it and back to the border and another junction. As already written in the path description (thanks JTrog), on our side there's no signpost for Lipševa vrata. In general I notice when walking border areas that Austrians bother to write our destinations on their signs but we don't theirs. Because the view of the average Slovene often reaches only to the border, beyond is just a big empty space for him. Sadly it's the same with Lipševa vrata, they have the bad luck of being just half an hour walk behind the border and Slovenes don't know them anymore. But it's worth detouring to these beautiful natural arches. So I turn towards 'Felsentore' which is the German name for the mentioned Gates. At the end you have to grab the rope a bit but for those not afraid of heights no problem. First the big gate, via pegs then to the middle and small ones. Then back and again to the Slovenian side, where I continue to Potočka zijalka. There I meet a group of hikers talking about the highest railway in the world in the Himalayas, by the way I learn that Kilimanjaro is there too. Then I continue towards Govca. On the way some easy scrambles, otherwise it drags a bit - and I'm at the top. There I meet the radio amateur. We get into conversation, he explains a bit about amateur radio, we talk a bit about neighboring peaks (the view was really magnificent), and generally about mountains,... I also ask him about the ridge path to Obel Kamen, further on I couldn't see the junction at all. Well, from the return path the sign is clearly visible and I turn up. I miss the path a bit and hit the right one again, marks are fainter and sporadic. Then I reach the cross on the Austrian and the model of Aljaž tower on our side of Obel Kamen. Since it's getting dark, I quickly descend to Potočka zijalka along which I take a short walk inside. Then on the way back I turn towards Rogar and thus make a loop back to Strevec, and at it still to the party!

Yesterday my wife and I with pleasant company went to Olševa to take advantage of one of the last, not autumn, but summer days. As we drove through Črna na Koroškem, winter was already approaching, temperature around zero and in remote valleys already quite strong frost. As we started climbing to our starting point at Zadnji travnik, the temperature also started rising with altitude. The initial part of the path to the saddle, where magnificent views open to the Savinja Alps and in the background also Julian Alps, was in shade and temperature just right for pleasant walking. Larches on the ascent in this part of the path weren't glowing yet, as sun rays hadn't reached them. When we swung to the south side, the picture was completely different, larches gave their all and competed who would glow stronger and attract our gazes longer. At the top windless and summer temperatures, so we basked in the warm sun rays for quite a while and enjoyed views all around. Larches and other trees preparing for winter sleep served a colorful palette of colors so everyone with a camera had ideal conditions for wonderful shots that this autumn time offers. Slowly we returned to the start and continued enjoying the glowing larches, as those more on the north side also woke up, now illuminated by the sun. Whoever wants to enjoy autumn colors in full splendor, Olševa is the right choice and you won't regret it.

Yes, that day there were quite a few of us at the top, but I notice that the path from Kumra is much more frequented than from Slemena. And some of our photos from Saturday's hike around Olševa. @janezs - we met at the top, you quickly headed back down from the top LP!

Since I left home a bit later than usual, I decided due to the heat to climb Olševa from the north. I start at the little church and go over the saddle to the Gates. There are three gates, access is quite adrenaline due to pulled out pegs. I descend through the lower gate and return about 15 minutes back, then turn left up the steep slope under Obel kamen and on a very steep and scree path reach the saddle between the two peaks of Obel kamen. Continue along the ridge to Govca. At the top except annoying flies I didn't meet anyone today. Descend to Rogarja and by road back to the car. Lp

Today was on Govca. Came from the direction of Kumra. The path is quite interestingly routed, the heat wasn't as bad as in the valley, and along the path there are several very tasty springs . At the top cloudless and windy as all recent days. View solid, snow in KSA melting fast. At the top met two hikers who decided to do a circular tour over the entire ridge and back on the panoramic road. Winter has ravaged well also on Olševa so the path to Govca is more airy due to fallen trees than previous years.

Hi! Given that it's raining like crazy in MB right now, the forecast for Olševa (Govca) on hribi.net is good for both today and tomorrow, I'm wondering if the path to Olševa will be suitable tomorrow? Thanks

Last time I was on Olševa was Saturday morning as part of K-24. At that time nothing special on the path, so I think it's the same except how much rain soaked the path. Watch out for slippery ground, if it keeps raining put on something rainproof, and still enjoy whichever ascent direction you choose. Best, Janez
