Panda, you're old school, who values the wonderful values of the mother tongue. You respect and appreciate it. Thank you! For some it's obviously blasphemous and almost scandalous that you dare mention such a thing. I at least try to have as few mistakes as possible. nasmeh

A Slovene must preserve his language and nurture it, because only then will we remain Slovenes on our land. Therefore full thanks to everyone striving for that. The website Hribi.net must not be an exception. Use Slovenian grammar here too and don't write in "spakedrankah".

Janezs did write in Slovenian, just in his dialect, which can be nice too. He didn't write in Serbian or Albanian.

Quite a while back, measured in years, someone already stumbled over Janez's Slovenian. It grated on my nerves too when reading his posts. Then, whether he himself or someone else, I don't remember exactly, explained why Janez writes as he does. Since then I respect both his actions and his writings. I can't be bothered to search for the explanation that was weighty and eloquent.

Today I also worked on Olševa. A nice sunny day helped me so time passed quickly. There were some hikers, but someone from your village could come help and learn Slovenian. It would all be without hassle, as the teacher found out years ago. Well, I understand you if you're out of work. On the widened path it will be nice to walk, with comma or without.

The work that Janez does is certainly worthy of respect.
It makes the path easier for many. That's the essence of his work. And if he thereby fulfills his inner need to help others, both sides are satisfied.
There are few such "heroes" who pick up trash after others in the mountains, remove obstacles from paths or, like Janez, maintain paths for free.
Many "heroes" are found who only complain and feel the need to point out other people.
Janez, thanks for the good work done.

Hello mountaineers.
I too pick up trash after others on Pohorje for 30 years. And because of that I don't feel like some "hero", as already mentioned. As a nature and mountain lover you simply feel it. When you see trash you just pick it up. There's no thinking here. And I don't need to post about it. My spoken language is in Pohorje dialect. But I have to admit that when it comes to writing the mother tongue, I'm as respectful and accurate as best I can. Of course not flawless but still grammatical. I don't know what's wrong with that. Even when I write a plain sms to a friend it doesn't occur to me to write in some spakedrujščina. I respect every good work that someone does in nature and mountains. But tell me all you who are not bothered at all by dialect writing, what would it look like if everywhere everyone wrote in their own dialect peculiarities. On forums, news, newspapers and I don't know where else. How would that look. Super cool? Totally crazy? Super cool? Don't you notice that the Slovenian word is slowly disappearing from the street? Really not? Because I notice it. And this is not criticism of Janez's post because I didn't even notice any excessive ungrammaticality in it. He does fantastic work and all praise. This is criticism of all you who "it doesn't bother you at all" and you're all super adaptable and insensitive to little things. Then we can really all write write as you speak and that's really fantastic and the only right way? Because we're coolsters and don't burden ourselves with such things. There's nothing wrong with someone making an effort and writing as it should be written.

@zappa-very, very well said. Really a shame that on this forum (and many others-to be clear), "spakendravščina" is "allowed", let's call it that, which somehow spoils the description and impression of what the author wants to present. Of course this "flies" to the person responsible for this portal.
Come on, let's follow the bright exceptions who are constant "guests" on this portal with their exceptional contributions and respectful writing.

My opinion is, lead by example instead of playing cops. I happily read Janez's posts and it'd be a shame if he didn't write them due to strict enforcement of language rules.

Actually the forum would be much emptier with such posting rules - ironically even recent posts complaining about Slovenian or grammar couldn't be published, as they all have mistakes. jezik

P.S. I think our diverse dialects are perhaps the greatest wealth of Slovenian. I wish some zeal for preserving the language was directed to them too.

On Saturday 14.10. we enjoyed Olševa. From sv. Duh we went to Lipševi vrata and up the gully to the top of Obelkamna. Then along the ridge to Govca and back to sv. Duh past Potočka zijalka. Beautiful tour. More pics and description at https://gorskimoz.si/2023/10/18/divja-olseva/

Today I went to check Olševa.

The road in Koprivna valley is still being repaired in some spots, so you need to wait a bit if you're lucky. Otherwise the road is nicely passable, including macadam to Govševa planina. Trail from Foršnerca onwards is snowy, hard. Not much snow. South side completely bare, so I could use crampons.

What are conditions past Potočka zijalka to Olševa, still lots of snow?

Hi

We were on Olševa 08.02.
To Potočka zijalka all completely dry, further some small snow patches mainly in shady spots, sunny parts completely snow-free. Ridge path to summit has 20-30 cm snow, but no issues... summit itself mostly windblown and rocky. We had crampons but they stayed in backpack. That's it, cheers.

From the eastern side, lower ridge, path completely bare up to "babje riti", (first steep slope). Then hard snow starts. Also on the ridge, for this time, too little snow. Below Govec on the exposed spot there is quite a lot of bare ground.

Conditions with little snow and bare patches on sunny slopes, I used for maintenance of the mountain path, Sleme-Olševa. Wind still fells some dry trees onto the path. On the meadow, at the first steep slope there is still some snow. Under the snow there are still some remains of wood from forest sanitation. From here onwards the trail is marked and cleared.
