Nice greetings! I'm interested in conditions on Olševa and which trail is best for ascent to the top in snow and winter? Thanks and nice greetings from Croatia!

Conditions are wintry, winter access for me personally most suitable Solčava-Spodnje Sleme-(park here) junction where one road branches to highest farm Bukovnik and hut Grohot below Raduha. On this path we traverse entire ridge of Olševa.

SLEME,OLŠEVA,LAST MEADOW,KUMER as part of five Carinthian peaks. With Nejc after lunch we head to Govca. Since last visit to Olševa not many people been there yet, so path trampled accordingly. On ridge without snowshoes need to look for hard ground, which not always available. Below summit on exposed spot of path caution needed. During our presence large amount of southern snow on path. For descent Mrzli dol,Repija we snowshoed. On road to Kumer ice in places.

A bit late. On Saturday my colleague and I were on Olševa. Due to new snow the path was untrampled. Rogar - Potočka Zijalka - then a bit further, and since colleague didn't feel like more - back. Excellent weather and super views. By car to Sv. Duh no problems.

Hello! What are the snow conditions on the path to Govca if going via Potočka Zijalka to the top? Thanks, greetings from Croatia!

This is how it looked last week from Strevčeva peč. Now some snow has fallen but in these warm days the fresh snow will be gone in a few days. lp

Yesterday we went up the route: Sv. Duh, Potočka zijalka, Obel kamen, ridge, Govca, Gladki vrh, Zg. Osovnik, back by road to Sv. Duha. Right above Potočka zijalka there is a steep section with a slightly awkward few-meter crossing of a snowfield. To Obel kamen no issues. On the ridge still quite a lot of snow. Sometimes it sank deeply. South side less snow of course but terrain not always passable so need to go over snow on top or north side. In between a comment fell that the ridge path was a bit adrenaline-filled A few cm of new snow was most annoying on the steep descent path. Because of it it was quite slippery. But this new snow will melt quickly. Despite slightly tougher conditions the tour was excellent!

Yesterday's view from Govca towards Kamnik Alps. There is snow after Zijalka near ropes where you need to cross 2-3 meters. (recommend ice axe) We went via ledges to Govca and also there at some places you must pass small snowfields where I recommend caution (care). Greetings from Croatia!

Olševa – hunters' paths and chamois tracks of south wall Last time, when driving to SV. Duh with Milan he mentions »one variant« in this J stretched wall while crossing the landslide. For me this wall is unknown, except the marked (Obel kamen/Govca via ridge and then return traverse under ridge back to Potočka). Interesting…! When »Pika« calls me Sunday afternoon that she has time Monday and if I join. Of course, if I have an idea for somewhere higher, just no snow.. Don't think long, motivate Milan too. So casually mention Olševa to him…. At 8:15 we park a kilometer higher than the bridge over the landslide. Across the road and steeply into the forest on track. When during the path we notice scraped spruce bark we wonder…? Deer or bear?? We don't let ourselves get scared and soon we are under the wall. Looks like we came to a quarry.. Higher stone towers, vertical walls, gullies, steep grass.. everything is there in this wall, its stretchedness makes us think… First he leads us right under the wall, where we search for passages to get to two windows. Meanwhile we climb to caves, which Olševa has in abundance. Windows not so impressive as on north Austrian side, but ours… When we climb through the largest, unfortunately we realize that further here it won't go. Wall stands too vertical. Continue on poorly traceable hunters' path under wall, which slowly ascends. Then steeply up gully and left to ridge past salt lick. Path traverses further to zijalka. We decide to go straight up wall. Start more demanding climbing but hope continuation easier. Steeply ascend ridges, steep grass, under vertical towers, smooth walls blocking path. Many holds and steps stay in hands or suspiciously wobble… Admire wild nature, views to KSA and Sv. Duh. So we reach marked path. Cck. 15 min from junction (11:30) where paths split – Obel kamen – Govca. Continue marked to Govca and there at 12:35. At 13:05 continue marked eastwards. Then turn off marked right and by hunters' to valley. Nice traverse brings us (14:35) almost back to start. At 15:00 at car. During path noticed hunters' paths weaving whole wall. Probably some lead only to salt licks or spots from where hunters stalk game in wall. Quite a few misleading chamois tracks that casually put you in »awkward« position… Plenty of passage options in wall, as wall very stretched. In short, wall offers plenty of exploration possibilities… On ridge still snow remnants, but no problems. Thanks to Milan for good leading! lp

Indispensable, carefully and really exemplary marked, every step steeply rising zigzag, first forest, then scree and in the last part grassy path, brought us from a completely new direction to wonderful Olševa. We started from Koprivna, or by fairly maintained cart track with car still to tii. Last meadow. The path is wonderful, especially for this heat, as a good part hides in the shelter of forest freshness and later by larch shades; only after scree ascent to ridge and on to grassy summit part Saturday heat hit us, but even that was then chased away on top by light breeze and mists rising densely pillar-like from valley towards summit but at same time completely hiding view to Logarska dolina and KSA ring around it for most of day; only Peca and Raduha got to shyly show their summits occasionally for short breath. Against expectation very little visitors so we for quite some time alone in silence and company of ptarmigans enjoyed the gift of natural primality that this magic peak offers, on return couldn't resist short walk along beautiful grassy ridge towards Sp. Slemena (Gladki vrh?).
