OD, ANE, OVER OLŠEVA, TO JAKOB

Today Nejc and I walked a somewhat different route than usual. Nejc trailblazed the whole way in front and made walking much easier for me. The Hunter's hut surprised us with its snow cover, otherwise snow is plentiful on the whole path. Likewise on the "kapšnica" there's a large drift of snow. We wanted to go to Govca too. But due to conditions we quickly dropped the plan. We knew we'd have sights to see towards the east along the ridge. The sun played peekaboo all the time. We struggled even descending to the upper saddle, the snow cover had greatly increased since the last visit. Towards Jakob I followed Nejc, since I hadn't descended that way before. So another successful trip behind us.

Spodnje Sleme, Govca and back.

Snow still lies on the road to Zgornje Sleme, but it poses no obstacles for hiking. More snow awaits on Olševa ridge, but half the path can be avoided on dry spots, half the path is under snow cover that postholes in warm weather. Govca itself can be reached without issues. Walking through Mrzli dol will be very interesting, thick snow cover still there. (I had snowshoes, crampons, gaiters, ski crampons and saw with me, used only ski crampons)

On Sunday on Olševa. Start at Sleme over the entire ridge - Gladki vrh, Lepi vrh, Govca, Obel kamen descent there to vrata then back to our side quick to Potočka zijalka then descent to Rogar. Ridge completely dry, north side to Mrzli dol still many snow patches and snow. Two smaller corniced snow patches also towards vrata, where lower part path not traceable due to much fallen wood, so don't recommend descent. Gorgeous views to KSA where still much snow.

Spodnje Sleme, Olševa, Kumer (K-24)

Yes, the conditions I had in mind (winter ones) have changed like day and night. Path to Govca nicely bare and dry. That we're in dry conditions already is evident from sheep grazing too, Different picture on path to Mrzli dol, here still some snow, very much has melted, continuation to Kumer without issues.

On Thursday Milan and I were wandering around Olševa. The weather wasn't very favourable to us, so we changed the plan a bit. We started at Zg. Ošovnik and at Gladki vrh descended to explore the Austrian side. Due to the rain we shortened everything and returned to the car via the shepherd's path. On descent we met the Sp. Ošovniks and got into a pleasant and informative chat with them. On the drive to the valley the weather improved, so we climbed Igla too, which had been planned for a long time.
Regards and safe steps to all from under the beautiful Golts, Janeznasmeh

Today with my son from Zadnji travnik to the summit.
Clouds started gathering on the peaks quite quickly, so there were no real views, but it wasn't so hotjezik.
A new summit logbook is needed at the top.
Our nine-year-old thus added another stamp to his booklet of Extended Slovenian Mountain Trails, now only three hardest ones in the Julians leftmežikanje.

Today with PD Škofja Loka and the mountaineering section of ŠD Savček-Savatech to Olševa. We drove via Kokra to Jezerski vrh in Austria and via Pavličevo sedlo back to Slovenia. Then along the nice panoramic road to the church of Sv. Duh. That was our starting point. We continued towards Potočka zijalka-1675m. There in this Neolithic cave the Ice Age man-Cro-Magnon stopped and temporarily lived. That's the Paleolithic time. It's proven somehow that this cave was inhabited and used for about 100 years. Since the lifespan of Ice Age man was short, we need to know it was used by several generations. In the cave they found numerous skeletons of Ice Age animals-including cave bear and some stone tools and the famous flute. The path then took us to Govca-1929m. The Olševa ridge is 5km long and Govc is its highest peak. From Govca we went along the entire ridge further past Visoka peč-1849m, Gladki vrh-1850m, Odenični hriber-1863m and Lepi vrh-1616m. The ridge traverse then descends quite steeply towards the pass Zgornje Sleme-1308m. We didn't go only to Obli kamen, which is the first peak in the ridge after Potočka zijalka. We descended along the forest road to Spodnje Sleme-1252m. There is pleasant farm tourism where they serve friendly.

Today in search of nice weather to Vrata. From there along the hunting trail to Obel kamen and further along the ridge to Govca. Descent past Potočka zijalka.
The initially nice morning turned into a snowy blizzard. On the ridge a north wind was blowing, so the temperature was quite low too. But hey, there's no bad weather in the mountains, so I didn't worry much.mežikanje
