Yesterday a bit around Peca. Topla-Mala Peca-secured-Kordeževa glava-Velika glava-Knipsovo sedlo-Končnikov vrh-Topla. Path on our side snow-free with some snow patches under the summit. At the neighbors walking mostly on snow. Weather sunny with some small clouds. Little wind behind Peca.mežikanje

Today to Peca via Knepsovo sedlo and then past the hut back to Topla. Very nice tour, because there were a couple of centimeters of fresh snow, a fairy tale.

Peca offers with its mighty southern face numerous secret corners. Towers, vertical walls, various sculptures that stir the imagination. No wonder so many legends and stories refer to Peca.
Today after a rainy night we drove to the Topla valley (my favorite starting point).
Up the steep path towards Knipsovo sedlo 2012m asl. When we reach the tree line we head right onto the hunters' path that crosses the entire face towards Mala Peca. We plan to do the traverse and through the gullies across the wall.
When we get under the mighty face of Kordeževa glava it pulls us towards the wall. It becomes more and more interesting and we forget the ascent on the secured path. Soon progress stops and searching for passages to the top begins. We all cooperate. In the wall we discover a prusik that protects over a quite exposed spot. Stanko climbs to it but the old, weather-worn one attached to an old rusty peg doesn't appeal to him. We look for another variant. Despite some difficulties we manage to find a way out of the wall. Each finds their own exit to the meadows.
Happy with the adventure we shake hands safely and a few minutes separate us from the summit. From the top we descend towards Knipsovo sedlo. There's still some snow on the path. In the warm grass we treat ourselves to a hearty snack and hurry back to the valley. We pull cans from the cold water, talk about the nice tour and drive home.
best regards

"Are you coming with us to Peca?", Zlatko calls me the day before. Why not, I thought, Peca as Peca, I've been to the mountain before, let's go.

As said, we started in Topla valley. Without issues we followed the hunters' traverse eastwards, which would take us to Mala Peca. It's known for these guys that unmarked paths are their favorites, this one too. Nice trail, a bit up, a bit down, we were doing well until Stanko and Zlatko decide to spice things up a bit.
We turn towards the walls that at first glance look impassable without climbing gear. Already after 20 min, right under the mighty Kordeževa glava, we got stuck searching for a passage to the ridge.
A few tries left, then right and the experience of the leaders contributed to overcoming about 500m of elevation without major issues. We were happy to join the marked path.
Surprisingly no wind on the summit this time. Weather clearing from the north, but KSA remained in misty embrace most of the day.

Now I know Peca is not just Peca. It's something more, especially in such company.
Thanks guys.

On Saturday, 23.05.2020 we went to Peca on the normal path from Jakobe parking. Up to the parking no specialties. The hut under Peca is being renovated and closed. We were quickly at the top, where it was quite cold with little wind, no specialties on the path. We descended the same path, visited the cave of King Matjaž, then slowly headed home.

Today the mountaineers of the Slovenian Mountaineering Club Skala did a nice circular route to Peca. The path led past Florina's alpine pasture to Mala Peca and further on the climbing section to the top of Peca. Descent to the hut at Peca and past the cave of King Matjaž to the starting point. The path itself without peculiarities. Nice mountaineering greeting.

Today we were at Peca. Start in Jakobe village. Pleasant path, friendly at the hut. Foggy, windy at the top, so views were poorer. Return past King Matjaž cave.

Hike to the top of Peca and Knipsovo sedlo.
Starting point I had in Pristava. On the way two goats greeted me, at the top of Peca, a herd of sheep. Hope the bear doesn't find out about the sheep.

Due to the road closure near Podpeča, the drive to Jakob was quite difficult today. jezen Especially for vehicles with low clearance...not recommended.

We also ran into the mentioned closure above, but made it to the parking via the detour gravel road. We headed to the valley towards Mežica, where the road is OK.
But we did a quite long path all the way to Bistriška špica and back. Almost 8 hours with breaks for 18 km path and 1400 elevation gain accumulated. The sun was scorching sad look,...
Full praise to the staff at the hut under Peca for very tasty food,...

We were also on Peca about a good week ago. Due to the very long drive to the starting point, we decided to stretch the tour over two days. The road is, as written above, much better from Mežica (from Črna there's a detour that's quite steep and rough in one section, but you can get through without major issues anyway). On the second day we started early from the hut and reached the summit via a short climbing path. According to the caretaker, crowds of people were streaming to the summit the previous day; we were lucky and enjoyed considerable solitude. We returned via the normal path and refreshed ourselves in Velenje Lake on the way home.

Tomorrow we plan to go from Jakob's parking lot to Peca. I'm interested if the detour is still there and if so, what condition the road is in.

Klemen, if the detour is still there I don't know.
But if it is, I can tell you that the road from the Črna side is very bad. It went very, very slowly... But supposedly from the Mežica side it's much better.

On Saturday traverse of Peca. From Pristava to King Matjaž Cave, then to Mala Peca via ferrata to Kordeževa glava, then to Velika glava, down to Knipsovo sedlo, up to Končnikov vrh, over both Križnik peaks, to Bistriška špica and then also to Veška kopa, then back before the turnoff to Luže and down to Luže. Worthwhile tour, weather far from shiny forecasts—no views, at times foggy, damp and cold, on the Austrian side sun. The path down to Luže pretty overgrownjezikespecially the last descent is real slash and thicket. Worthwhile tour to wear out, cars as always stayed in the valley and problems spared.mežikanje

Well, nice. We two also conquered the summit of Peca on Saturday. The path took us past the Končnik farm, we left the car at Rudnik in Topla. Path beautiful, only two people were still on that path. At the summit crowds, on the path met families with small kids, horror. Everything that has two legs or four climbs into the mountains.
I won't comment on families climbing to the summit with small kids.
UPS, already a challenge for adults climbing Peca for the first time, let alone small kids.

We found our moments of enjoying silence and peace, since few set off on that path like us.
Regards!

Today from Topla to Kneps and to the summit. Back towards the hut, to Mala Peca and back to Topla. From about 1400m onwards quite some snow. Initially southern, towards the summit dry and windblown. Winter gear stayed in the backpack. Too late for nice views,.. at the summit fog you could cut with a knife and wind making winter temperatures, although autumn just started.
