Yes, when you come sick for a check-up they skin you the most. Similar also in Maribor by the hospital. Not cheap.

But if you go on a trip to the mountains you have plenty of options. Even non-paid ones. Imagine the people in Bohinj area who are literally occupied by vehicles every weekend. Wouldn't want to be in their place. They found solution in exclusion although it's not the best solution.

If it's like across the border, when driving up you pay the required amount, down it lifts automatically. Experience from Austria.

The barrier was set up on 17.06. We drove to Planina Blato; there was a closed barrier, next to it a gentleman stood and charged 10€. He gave us a receipt and said to leave it visible in the car; we did that. We were at the barrier around 9.00. We returned at 15.00; the barrier was open and no one around.

I already know this procedure - a few years ago, I thought they had modernized a bit, well, I thought they had moved forward with the times.
Nothing of that, oh well, the Balkans.nasmeh

As a comparison zavijanje z očmi

On the nearby Dobrač you have to pay 17.50€ for the road. For that money you get an excellent informative brochure and a decorative sticker, along the road you have something to see almost at every bend (flora, fauna, panorama, playgrounds for children, etc.). Actually, it's as written on their brochure: Experiential and panoramic mountain road velik nasmeh And most importantly - at the top you can even park! mežikanje At Blato I already had to reverse all the way to the Vogar junction because everything was full. And along the road to the junction it was full of cars on the side, so traffic chaos mrk pogled The girl in the valley just smiled when I told her it would be good to know how much space there is up there and limit traffic accordingly (let only a certain number of vehicles up)

I don't know if it's such a problem to pay 10.00€ per day, if it's a waste of money they have free transport on weekends and holidays https://obcina.bohinj.si/objava/131342

Also regarding excessive crowding, it's supposedly arranged, since the barrier won't open when a certain quota of vehicles is reached. Likewise, the barrier won't open during timber harvesting, road maintenance, etc. ...

Only to you, because you obviously have full pockets.

But if you go from Blato to Triglav via Sedmeri and on the third day back to the car, it will probably still seem stupid to you that you have to pay the Bohinj people 30 euros just because you had your car for three days on their uninsured parking.

For two nights in the high mountains (Sedmera, Prehodavci or Dolič) on the other hand, with paid membership you will pay only 23 euros.

One more thing. Tourist-friendly would be to include two-hour parking near the lake in the toll to Blato, so after the hike you can refresh somewhere and swim in the lake. Why after such an expensive toll pay extra time for lunch and swimming? Say, designate where with proof of toll payment to Blato you can leave the vehicle for 2h, arrival time marked in the car with a parking disc or slip on which arrival time is noted. I'm sure Bohinj tourism wouldn't go into the red because of this, and hikers would more easily accept the relatively expensive road to Blato and back.

Just a few accessible paths that we used to hike without problems:
* Logarska dolina (old mountaineers' hut) - Okrešelj
* Mojstrana - Aljažev dom
* Stara Fužina - Vodnikov dom
Today, however, the combination of worn knees and thinner wallets can be a problem, yeah..

Barrier is barrier, but 10€ when you arrive and 10€ when you leave, if I got it right?? That's not normal...

turbo, good suggestion, but Bohinj folks certainly won't consider it. By their logic, it would be most tourist-friendly to charge tourist tax per click, without even going there.

Anyway, it'll be fun at the parking at the barrier this year when after a few days someone's bill exceeds what's even in their wallet haha

It says 10 euros/24h. Whoever has the car parked for 2 days will pay 20 euros.

Come on. You'll say that when? When was that? Since the first Mihelič guide, mountain trailheads were more or less where they are now; at most you could drive further in places (Tamar, Zadnjica, Tolminka source etc.). Go further back and you'll hit times with no cars. But I don't know how relevant those comparisons are. Building new roads is another issue, but I see no special reservations for using roads that already exist.
