@flapho and @slavkoa, have you ever thought about the elderly, families with children (for whom such an approach can be help if they have trouble disconnecting from computers, video games, phones,... to at least go a bit walking, even if it's not a great tour), the weaker, the handicapped,... For them, the option of arriving by car, cable car, bus,... to a higher starting point means a lot. We will all be old someday, we'll still love the mountains but they'll become less accessible to us. I hope that by then things will sensibly turn for the better here too. Abroad they have it better arranged. Admittedly with the original purpose of commercialization and profit but the side effect of all this is also better accessibility of mountains for such groups of people. Regarding winter gear: what's wrong with inquiring about its necessity? I usually check double: on the forum and at the hut. Both have already screwed me... True, an extra piece of gear isn't superfluous and in doubt I carry it myself. And as @exwannabe said, some don't have it, aren't trained to use it or simply don't have money for it!

Van Sims, I agree with you. Anyway, this portal is intended for everyone, including beginners and less experienced. Better that they learn about the actual situation here than on the path in some sticky situation they're not up to. Those who have enough experience and know the current situation on the path can just help friendly. Good luck on the trails. Regina

It seems to me they arranged this quite correctly. We have good options (very affordable) for public transport to the mentioned frequent points: http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/141532/. Just a bit more thinking when planning the tour is needed. But if we want to be completely independent and drive with our own car as high as possible, even in TNP, it's right to pay a bit more for it.

Van Sims, very nicely written. In my young years I hiked from starting points where public transport took you. Now in later years (over 60) I still like to hop on some two-thousander, but I like to drive a bit further by car, even if I have to pay a few euros for it. After all, the road to Planina Blato was nicely upgraded and that cost something too. And best regards to all.

You can easily reach Vogar on foot from the parking lot (free), Stare Fužine.... one hour and you're up.

2emeREI, thanks for reply. Day is short so every hour matters. Slamca and Mukica, I knew that already before asking. Best regards.

I also checked at the Info center Bohinj Ribčev Laz, where they confirmed that parking at the Stara Fužina parking lot is free until 1.4. I didn't ask when they changed it. I remember in past years there was a parking meter on that parking lot that worked in winter too.

Please info on the parking price at Planina Blato and in Stara Fužina. Does the bus from Senožeta parking run and can a dog go on it? Thanks!!

I paid 12€ when I went to Vogar, which is the same as to Planina Blato. That's for the whole day, not hourly... which isn't right if you stay just 3 hours, say. How it's arranged for multiple days in the hills, I can't find... I hope it's not 12€ every day, because abroad the next day costs much less.

Last year "road use" to Planina Blato was 10 EUR per day. This year raised to 12, apparently. In short: just through the barrier and back - 10 EUR, stayed in mountains a few days, say 3 --- 30 EUR.

For 24 hours and 1 minute 24 euros. Uh, pretty brutal in its own way. I.e. if you park at 23:00 and return at 10:00 am you still pay 24 euros Senožeta parking and shuttle to Blato/Vogar junction is quite affordable (4 euros/day), but in mountains day starts early and at 6am it can be late in summer. Also bus doesn't run on weekdays. Anyone have experience with this, like bus occupancy?

Hm, practical... so if you're a PD member you pay per day for parking about as much as for an overnight in a hut. At least no hassle calculating multi-day costs But is the same ratio abroad too?

No, abroad it's not like that.... at least when going to the Dolomites. The mountain road toll was a few years ago 20€... the next day only 5€
