We're spoiled. Parking was 10€ till now, full so in season car left mid-slope. Now 12€, same full as if 15€. Bohinj locals greedy, but would be dumb not to raise price.

Those few bucks for laziness support, comfort and priceless pleasures hard to pull from pocket like stingy Scots. Thanks Bohinj for mental rec and health care! Biggest savers can save it walking from valley.

Never meddled in discussions but this time my opinion though maybe wrong. Parking height not issue, issue is number of locals/foreign tourists in our mtns (rising yearly, last yr ~1.5 mil). Beautiful mtns, everyone wants peak pic, mess trail (bivs, huts, paths). Most drive to top if poss... parking fees right, maybe deter influencer. Who loves mtns no prob start km lower or pay. Who pities $$ for Bohinj park don't pay on Croatia sea trip

Agree with most but should somewhere show that PZS membership pays discount. True most think too much those good 20€ though 2 hut nights recoup. We regular payers equalized with non-members and foreigners.

Parking fee, of course. It's paid by parking hours. The question is just what they offer for it, what the sleeping in huts is like. I still claim we have no clue about mountain tourism. Example from Austria. If you want to go a bit higher with the car, you pay for the drive on the private forest road. Sleeping in TNP huts has no comparison with huts across the border. Austrians would have closed Planika and similar huts long ago. Regards!

A big improvement would be if someone counted the parking spaces at Blato and Vogar, those where legal and legitimate parking is done, then arranged for a red light to shine in the valley and the barrier not to lift when spaces are full. It's very unpleasant to drive in reverse from Blato towards Vogar and watch out for vehicles parked on the side, even more so when two, three,... drive up from below, then a referendum is needed on who will yield to whom and how Otherwise, where I go most, in the last ten years altogether I haven't paid 12€ for parking. And roads to starting points are mostly asphalted, mountains above starting points magnificent, no crowds on the road, not on the parking lot, even less in the mountains even in July and August (almost) none

Bojan (turbo) wrote very well. I fully agree. In such cases the only solution is a barrier with red light that opens when a parking spot frees up. Similar to what they have under Tre Cime. And if the visit is large, it's normal that the price increases too. When so much is said about unfriendly Bohinj locals, I wonder how much all-day parking in Ljubljana would cost me. And if I stayed another day, would it be cheaper?

Technology is nowadays really cheap and accessible, so it's easy to do as turbo said... I wonder why not yet, since some coins are collected from parking fees. But... when you see this crowd in Slovenian mountains, sometimes it seems measures like... limited daily Triglav visits with prior registration... online reservation of parking spot at Blato... entrance fee to TNP (like Venice)... traffic lights on Soča (like traffic light at top of toboggan)... are not exactly rocket science..

The world is not ideal, so not everything is so simple despite technology. This road does NOT lead only to Blato. It also leads to Vogar. And before the junction, further down in the valley, it also goes to Voje. So they would need sensors on all three roads that recognize how many vehicles are on which final parking. And then, say, a shepherd from Blato comes with car and four of his relatives on a visit, who unlock the barrier in front of the alpine pasture and drive in, the light below would report that parking is full. Actually, four spots would be free. And then again someone would yell that Bohinj have a broken system haha

When so much is said about unfriendly Bohinj locals, I wonder how much all-day parking in Ljubljana would cost me. Thanks for the question. I'll just give a link. There are more parking options in Ljubljana, but for long-term parking this is one of the cheaper ones: http://www.sz-zip.si/podrocja-delovanja/parkirisca-in-varovanje In short, if you want the center (train station, Tivoli), you'll pay 8 euros for the whole day, if you go a bit out but still within walking distance (Parmova) 4 euros. In short, let's bust this myth that in Ljubljana it's much more expensive. It's not.

Bohinj locals should just admit they are ripping off. That price quickly exceeds the cost of an overnight stay in a hut, that's not normal. For 3 days 36€, hello!! In Austria for a similar road you'd pay say 5€ at an automatic till and could stay up there several days for the same price. For those who want to go to Blato for several days, the following days should be much cheaper, since we drive up only once.

Thanks for the explanation. So, if in Ljubljana a day is "worth" 8 euros, then in Bohinj at 12 euros it's probably undervalued. Anyway, as turbo wrote, there are plenty of nicer and more solitary spots.

We agree, Bohinj is worth more than Ljubljana. Let's admit it, everyone would miss Bohinj locals if they weren't there, but not Ljubljana people

Bohinjc is Bohinjc, rascal and rascal he will remain... tourism are we people Cars are already descending from Blato, the barrier still opens (charges)... when it's for their own benefit they would exit TNP, at the same time when not in direct benefit they refer to TNP, always the same song... in the middle of the forest, by the forest path, a kid jumps on the path who wants to charge you a couple of euros for, he himself doesn't know exactly what (some usage fee or path maintenance??? ) etc., etc., etc. In short, for Bohinj locals tourism is you drive to Bistrica, leave a couple of tens of euros, circle at the roundabout and drive back where you came from

guys, thanks, we're coming 25th, so bus runs Otherwise, daily parking in Zg in first zone is 100 kn which is cca 15 euros, about the sea I won't even talk cuz in season I don't go down from Velebit. guys, thanks! We're coming 25th so we can go by bus Otherwise daily parking in Zg center is 100 kn, cca 15 euros, but at sea it's pure robbery, so I don't go down from Velebit in season. This is national park, it's ok to pay as if driving. Other problem is we're poor (Come to our Plitvice Lakes, then Bohinj won't seem expensive to you)

Dprapr, yes I agree with you that there is no need for pricier parking in Ljubljana than in Bohinj areas, only Bohinj locals say they charge road use not parking. If you stay e.g. 2 days in hills, you won't use road 4x, i.e. 2x up and 2x down, but only 2x. Their prices don't hold water. But where else in Slovenia do they take such high toll? I know for road to Mangart they take ecological tax 5 EUR, to Logar Valley entrance for motor vehicles is charged, exempted are those non-electric drive.
