Planjava

From Sukalnik along the ridge to the western peak,...no snow on this section, no traces or cairns noticeable either..., probably winter took them,... further to marked Planjava there's a path..., then to the hut at Kamniško sedlo for refreshments and current affairs...
...I haven't been there yet, but you can't miss the beginning...1
...here along the ledge...2
...already in the easier part...3
...nice view and memory of Mokrico from Kurje...4
..view and memory of Zeleniške...5
then a walk to the marked summit of Planjava...6
...boulders were offering themselves along the path, so I jumped onto the highest and most made-up one,...from behind...7

SilvestrO, what about orientation issues above the entry gully above Sukalnik? I've heard about this approach, but it's still waiting. Regards.

Only now back here...zadrega
@Volk, no special orientation issues, I'd say, if ...well, along the gully that rises parallel to the ridge (pic.1), about 10m before its end out of it towards the ridge and up...,right under the vertical rocks past the characteristic flake right onto the ridge and along it...,to avoid difficulties towards the summit go to the eastern side...,...if you're not too eager to find difficulties, in my opinion nowhere over II. nasmeh That's how I went, as I wrote, no traces...there might be another variant...,there used to be a serious PZS forum, check there.

Hi
We'd go tomorrow Planina Podvežak - Planjava (over Srebrno sedlo). Does anyone know if the path is normally passable or are there still snow issues?

thanks

The path is normally passable without snow but the marking is rather poor as far as I know. Time to get the Styrians into gear. Good luck and safe steps.

@SilvestrO, great description. It tempted me already during my last ascent to the "classic" Planjava up here, or as if I sensed that some moderate and easy climbing exists. Next time I'll probably dare. velik nasmeh

From the saddle earlier up towards Z vrh, it would probably be more alpinism than anything else, I assume? jezik

I was yesterday on Planjava. We came from Ojstrica and continued over Srebrno sedlo towards Korošica.
The path to Planjava on the penultimate ascent and further, and from the summit to Srebrno sedlo is poorly marked, which in the fog, like yesterday, was a bit unpleasant.
Otherwise, the path is without issues and recommended! nasmeh

Yesterday morning I parked in Kamniška Bistrica. I thought of going there by bike, but the day before while cycling to PST I had a "flat tire". mrk pogled I head to Kamniško sedlo. That one, of course, which we discussed at length in the namesake section from a safety perspective,... mežikanje From the Kamniška direction I was up there for the second time this time. After the initial steepness, the path eases for a while and rarely steepens again; the most tiring part is, of course, the last section from Pastirci.

At the hut, I refresh a bit, then continue towards Planjava. What to say about the path itself? It's not overly demanding (maybe even easier than Brana), but it's exposed in the lower part (especially Wisiakova grapa), and there's lots of scree on the whole path. At Sukalnik (where the path actually turns mežikanje), I get a view of Repov kot and the lower part of Zeleniških špic. I continue to the junction and turn left there. Then a bit more walking and some rock holding, and I'm at the upper junction, from there to the summit.

Clouds spoiled the view (which, of course per Murphy, cleared when I was already descending). To the north, despite everything, it was visible to the Karavanke from Košuta to Pece. No farther. Of course, everything visible from Kamniške Alpe was visible, but clouds kept racing around. Towards Ljubljana, it was foggy anyway.

I descend over Srebrno sedlo; on the way, the upper part of Zeleniških špic reveals itself. In the upper part of the path from Planjava to Korošica, the markings are really faint, but at least in descent, with a bit of sense for orientation, you can find the right path (in ascent, it might be different). From the saddle onwards, markings in descent are solid, but it's quite steep there and full of scree again; there are some scrambles, but they're not too hard. This path seems easier to me than the one from Kamniško sedlo, but the 'normal' one is probably that.

At Korošica, they have a friendly hut dog to whom I give one of my biscuits, pet him a bit, and continue towards Presedljaj. From there, I thought of hopping to Konj (and then via Planina Dol to the lower station of the cable car at Velika Planina), but at Prag, I miss the turn for Presedljaj and end up at some plain called Vodotočnik. From there, it only continues to Podvežak... Oops! So I go back, see the sign for Presedljaj, and cross unmarked to join the path from Prag.

At Presedljaj, of course, due to the late hour, I drop the idea of ascending to Konj and continue directly down the path. The upper part of the descent is very awkward. Then it eases a bit, but the time is late and it's getting dark. So I miss the markings and end up on an unmarked path. Well, I was already close to Kamniška Bistrica, so almost in the valley; there was practically no steepness anymore. This path leads me to some path that fades, and so I wander a bit in the forest among some fallen trees until I reach a weak cart track, which gets wider and joins a wider cart track. I follow that and, in about half an hour after crossing a stream, reach the main road next to the parking (starting point for Konj). By the path description on this portal, I'd say that in the last part I caught the marked path again, but I don't know because the markings weren't visible due to the dark.

From there, it's another 20 min. to the Hut in Kamniška Bistrica, where the keeper serves me a beer despite the late hour.

On this hellishly hot day, the ascent to Planjava was the right choice. We started from Jermaca at 6 a.m. The first sun rays greeted us only at Srebrno sedlo. Along the ridge to Planjava a light breeze tempered the heat. We returned past Kamniško sedlo back to Jermanca. Below Jermanca quite a few trees are down. Most likely the result of the last thunderstorm. Just before noon we arrived at the car. In no case would I swap with those just heading to the saddle. The sun already had its power.nasmeh

meta50, today I also went via Repov kot over Srebrno sedlo and visited Planjava. Down to the hut at Kamniško sedlo, then over scree to Pastirji and back to Jermanca. Me too, I got stuck in Klin. It was nice just too hot, so cooling in Bistrica fitted perfectly.nasmeh

Actually I was interested mainly from the position from which you took the 23rd pic but with the wall above that peak (Rdeči kup).
