On Pohorje above 1100 meters pure winter idyll. Overnight it snowed between 20 and 30 cm. On Areh also up to 40 cm.

Today headed again to Pohorje to do something smart and useful for myself. Since last night didn't stay long at New Year's party was in excellent form for hill. Path without special features ground frozen so nicely dry for walking. At ca 1000 meters snow starts first just traces then up to ca 20 cm. At tower very nice views to wide distances. Returned to start via approach direction.

Yesterday 16.1. day off morning sorting personal matters then jump to Pohorje if there's anything new. Conditions slightly more wintery up to ca 700m no snow then just traces. Path slippery and icy. On ski slopes quite some for enthusiasts of this sport lifts operating. Weather warm and very windy so didn't stay long on tower then batteries died in camera didn't feel like changing them. Was nice with beautiful views.

For today I chose Pohorje as it's the closest bigger hill to me. A bit for fitness and also to peek at the background of events at 51. Golden Fox. It was a wonderful day nasmeh

Today after more than a month again to Pohorje to check how it's melting (snow) and if any flowers have sprouted. The path was quite long this time as I again "strayed" to Pečke from there to the viewpoint tower-Cigelnica and return to start via Bolfenk.

Yesterday and today 12.4. I spent in forests and moors of Pohorje. Around Rogla, Black Lake, Lovrenc Lakes. Still lots of snow, snowshoes came in handy. Weather was April-like; lots of sun, but also thunderstorm threat and a few raindrops.

Friendly excellent ornithologists took me under their wings and I heard and saw some jewels of Pohorje - three-toed woodpecker and pygmy owl.

I'm new to the forum (and to mountains). Can I ask for info.

For a few days (from 18.07. to 23.07.2015.) I would organize my hiking activities on Pohorje so that every evening, with my adult daughter, we sleep in a different mountain hut. Please is it mandatory to book accommodation in the hut in advance?

It can happen that due to overcrowding without reservation you won't get a room (bed). There are quite a few huts on Pohorje and if you decide for a hike I advise you to call the caretaker of a certain hut and arrange with him.

Today morning just a short walk to Pohorje quickly. Now as I'm writing this it's already raining cats and dogs so I didn't set off far.

Yesterday in still quite decent weather walked the path in reverse direction Mariborski razglednik-Pečke-Meranovo-Maribor which wasn't even in plan before but inspiration.

Using up old vacation yesterday to Pohorje to see the spring-winter idyll..... for a fairy tale sometimes there's no need to go far.
