Today, 30.12., I set off early in the morning towards Podbrdo. Unfortunately, due to low temperatures and resulting issues, I spent three hours more on the train than planned. So I had no time for the ascent, I circled only some high mountain farms. Powder snow about 20 cm, Porezen summit very windblown. Crampons and ice axe are necessary to carry.

Since nice weather awaits us next week, I'd write something about conditions. nasmeh
On Friday the 13th I went to Porezen from Davča. The path was partially trampled to the summit of Kopa, but no further. From there I waded to my knees. Somewhere there was soft snow, somewhere it partially broke through, somewhere nothing. Overall fitness demanding. nasmeh The upper half of the ridge to Porezen is windblown several meters wide all the way to the summit. Nevertheless, the grasses and path are frozen, hence very slippery. CAUTION!
Yesterday GRS rescued a person who slipped on Porezen and hit their knee.
For now only my footprints on the path (if the wind hasn't covered them). The road to Porezen is not trampled.

Hello, what are conditions on path to Porezen. How much snow, is it trodden and are crampons needed?
Thanks in advance for answers!

From Davča (Podgojzdar) on path snow drifted in places, hard in others. Towards summit very windblown and icy in places, but doable without crampons as much bare ground in between. Today windy whole path, towards summit bit stronger, just couldn't sit nasmeh

Curious where this Podgojzdar is? Is it path from hunting hut?

It is marked as Pod Gozdom on maps. It is a little further from the tourist farm Vrhovc http://www.domacija-vrhovc.si/.. Actually it's this path: http://www.hribi.net/izlet/cimprovka_davca_porezen_po_cesti/21/209/1103

Yesterday after a long time on winter Porezen. I started hiking as always at Na Raspetu, less than 4 km from Cerkno Ski Centre and a good 2 km from Tuškov grič. This path appealed to me so much the first time that I always choose it for winter approach. The path is very suitable for snowshoeing, so they were with me this time too.
There was mostly no need to use snowshoes, as the snow was already well transformed. Up to Vrš there was a compacted track, further everyone went their own way. Snow from hard and frozen to completely soaked, depending on how much sun shone on it. Some bare areas in between.
Nevertheless I managed to snowshoe the entire path both ways. Some steps also on grass.

From the forecasted clear weather by noon clouds covered the sun and views and I had to wait quite a long time for sunny moments in the photos.
The path through scree and scrub tired me considerably as it ascends several times also on return. For the icing on the cake still the arduous drive home. I would come to these nice places more often if they were closer at hand.

The road along Idrijca river valley is still being renovated. Due to road works there are 4 traffic lights, of which nearly three on 4 km. Even when road renovation finishes there will still remain quite some narrow bends where two trucks barely meet. If I add to that the road through Soča valley and winding ascent from Cerkno to Cerkno Ski Centre, the drive tired me more than snowshoeing.

At the bend below Dolenji Novaki my gaze always lingers on the idyllic image of villages nestled in the steep slope.1

To photograph these cowslips I rushed into such a steep slope that I almost needed crampons.3

Starting point - to Porezen whimsically measured time 2 hours 5 min (in total another hour extra).6
On seeing the bare path and slopes, I wondered whether to take snowshoes at all.7
Just behind the farm building the road is lavishly blanketed with hard, frozen snow.8
This idyllic view is usually crowned by the peaks of Kamniško Savinjskih Alps, this time hidden in mists.9
First view towards the still very distant Porezen.10
Below the saddle of Vrše, which took me a good hour.11
Trees on Vršah that always attract the gaze.12
Now the photo shows this sign, which could also be placed a meter aside.13
Probably waiting for someone who comes to feed it, as it was still in the same place on return.14
It was not afraid of the noise I made with snowshoes at all, only when I got very close did it slowly hop into the forest.15
Some more winter idyll.16
The mountain path continues along the bare slope, so I took the snowy road.17
View towards Blegoš.18
View back on the traversed path, unfortunately without a view of Snežnik.19
On the road still enough snow for snowshoes.20
Already closer.21
I waited quite a long time for those brief moments when the sun illuminated the top of Porezen.22
From the alpine pasture by the hunting hut the path ascends bare slopes, I chose more to the right where there was enough snow for snowshoes.23
View back on the traversed path.24
Another descent before the final ascent.25
Ahead along the snow-covered road.26
On the well-snowed road, old tracks of two predecessors.27
Traversing the road through the forest quite steep, snow frozen - spikes under snowshoes crunched well.28

Suzana, I'm really glad for the news that there are only 4 traffic lights left. Last year there were 14 from Godovič to Tolmin. We'll gladly set off to the Soča region. Nice greeting and plenty of enjoyment.

Thanks, Jutranja. I really envy you the magical moments at the top. When the sun just before sunset rebelliously hides in clouds, it conjures really special colors.
Pity, because they faded so quickly, and ahead of me there were still 80 km of winding through not really enjoyable bends.

Today, 19.3. I walked the circular path Hudajužna-Porezen-Podbrdo. From the railway station in Hudajužna downhill approx 400 m is the railway underpass, have to go through, then past the house with yellow facade, from there markers well traceable, path nicely trodden. Snow starts at top of Durnik (approx 1150 m a.s.l.), where I put on winter gear. Much higher, at forest edge I used snowshoes for part of the path. Summit part is windblown and quite crusty, so goes without. Not icy.

Returned same path to forest edge, where junction Hudajužna/Podbrdo. Descended right to Podbrdo. More snow towards Podbrdo and lying lower, also crusting already, so used snowshoes quite long.

On Porezen today bit of everything. Morning sunny spring day, then part where winter and spring shake hands, and part with few cm new Sunday snow that like cloth covers the old and already bit dirty one. Just no wind and visitors.
Winter is frolicking with its tail 1

We participated in the 40th winter hike to Porezen on the 70th anniversary of the battle against the occupier in 1945.
Path from Petrov brdo was nicely passable, locally a bit icy but new fallen snow saved us. Today few cm fell, so atmosphere was really idyllic-winter. Later even sun showed behind clouds nasmeh

Can I ask - what about the path to Porezen from Cerkno over Labinjske lehe, Velbnik and Medrce - Slovenian Mountain Trail? Is it ok? In the list of paths it's missing and no pic. Thanks a lot and sorry for my Slovenian, because I'm from Czech nasmeh BR David

Yesterday I was on Porezen from Petrov brdo. Path is obstructed in some places due to fallen trees, otherwise ok. Snow on path appears only towards top. At top and hut still quite some snow, but "winter gear" (crampons etc) not needed.
