Ha ha, julika and pikica 1 almost convinced Renatota that it really is a capercaillie. And he was so sure that he saw a black grouse on Porezen.

pikica and julika are right. I asked an ornithologist. And he wrote to me that it's definitely a black grouse, due to the tail shape, size and beak coloration. (capercaillie has a light beak). And especially because of the white stripe in the wing, which capercaillie doesn't have. Also this habitat isn't suitable for capercaillie. Quite atypical that it would wait for photographing, unless hormonally disturbed males; capercaillies are extremely shy. From Zg.Davča to Porezen. Snow starts at the starting point, took crampons with me too. Higher up, crust that broke through, sometimes not. Wasn't cold, met no one. Sat on the bench in the shelter and waited for sunset. But since horizons were even nicer, didn't hurry with descent.

Today I was heading to Kojca, but the above post by ljubitelj gora tempted me. Started from Vrh Ravni above Jesenice. Path via planina Otavnik is nicely passable. Where there was snow it didn't break through. But very little on the path. Here and there a drift and last half hour to the top. Not icy though. But true, only until tomorrow, then new shipment comes.
Hut was even open and quite visited. When visiting Porezen worth checking the hut, if some PD Cerkno member comes around, can enter and warm up.
At Vrh Ravni, starting point for Kojca and Porezen, municipality Cerkno excellently arranged parking this year. Since mayor has ear for hikers too, we trust him at least one more term.

Porezen showed itself in true winter idyll after many years. Powder snow from summit to start at Jurež, some sun with cold wind on upper slope, fog in forest and under gray sky in Davča. Yesterday a hike was organized (also on Saturday) and since nicer weather was forecast for Sunday, we chose yesterday. Well, forecasters were wrong, but we weren'tnasmeh. It was very interesting, because we chose yet another circular connection.
We started a bit above Petrov breg, return from the summit towards homestead Jurež, but descended a bit before it down the slope towards Majdelc and then past Podhočar to the start. In between we stopped at an interesting viewpoint with bench and chapel, which had been bugging me for long where it actually is. Well, yesterday the riddle was solvednasmeh.

At the hut accidental meeting with Tonet, who waited for the celebration at 11 at summit before monument. Also PD Trst were up there.

To defend the forecasters a bit: the weather forecast for Sunday was that it would cloud over on the west, especially in the hilly world of the Primorska Prealps, already early in the morning, while on the east that would happen by noon.

So, no hard feelings, but @ločanka, the forecasters weren't wrong, you just went to the wrong mountain velik nasmeh

Today to Porezen from Petrovo Brdo. Snow starts at 1300 m, when you get out of the forest to the summit about 30 cm new. The path is already trampled. Today nice weather with some wind along the ridge.

Regarding closures under Suša - don't rely on exact times, once on Saturday we ran into a full closure already before 10am. Changed plans, turned to Martinj vrh and went from the quarry to Blegoš nasmeh We didn't regret it. In short, be well ahead of the closure, then you'll get through.

Regarding Porezen - today first time summited via path from Petrovo Brdo, nice solitary path, surprisingly no mud (after all this rain), met most visitors only on the last part of the path. Recommend!

Wondering (as I've encountered it multiple times), does food always run out in the hut soon after 12? Today just after noon they only had beans and jota left; sausages and rest gone, even homemade bread. Around noon lunches really start? zmeden Underestimate visitors and lack stock or what? No excessive crowd, normal visit on nice day. If planning to lunch at Porezen, count on early time or go without lunch or no choice.
