The season is no obstacle to reaching the top of Raduha from Grohot.

Hi,
I'm interested in the conditions on Raduha. Is it possible to get to the top normally or is some additional equipment needed.
Thanks....

Hello!
Here's, to refresh the situation or rather the path to Raduha a bit. I was there yesterday on 10.1.2015.
Yesterday my friend and I walked all from Luč to the top. At first, in the morning time when we started from Luč at 06:30, it was very icy, up to that abandoned farm it was a disaster. And even further on that forest road it wasn't much better, but only in the morning.
So to the hut, Planina na Loki, it went without crampons but slowly and carefully. However, when we were going back towards late afternoon practically all that ice had disappeared, as it was strong from the south and windy yesterday, so for the way back (from Planina na Loki) it took us a bit more than an hour and we were in Luč.
As for the path from Planina na Loki to Raduha it's completely something else, the entire ascent was decently icy, even more icy at the crossing, so crampons were almost mandatory, at the very top again strong wind which made that trodden path into a real igloo track, but snow just for decoration.
Across the entire path from Luč to Raduha snow from about 5 to maximum 60 cm, but gaiters were not needed at all, as the entire path as I said is trodden and packed or icy.
In short, I hope this helped with the information and that you will go on this path, I personally enjoyed it more than enough and will definitely repeat smile
Best, good luck

Raduha 15.1.2015
Before the forecasted weather deterioration we visited Raduha today. Organizer Stanko took the opportunity to lead a colleague over 2000m who is just getting into high mountains. For Boštjan it was the first two-thousander. Otherwise on the top of Raduha Boštjan got a "baptism", but Stanko was very gentle with the blows. Rightly so...big
Drove from Luč, road solid and a bit icy. Higher up, up to 5cm fresh snow on icy base. That partly saved us from it being even more slippery. Up we went without "crampons", back we put them on. Not too windy, not warm either. Partly high clouds and sun at times. Back we walked almost the entire ridge via Lanež 1925m almost to the top of Jelovec 1845m. Conditions for this time of year quite unusual. Little snow and fairly warm.
Forecasts are different now and in the next few days everything will change...
From the Grohot side snow-wise nothing different. Perhaps even less icy, because the sun didn't melt the snow.

@Geppo .... I didn't doubt your report at all smile. It's clear to me that the snow fell overnight. Interesting only that until pitch dark in Luče it was still clear sky with stars and the change must have come very quickly.

Today on windy Raduha, from Radušnik past the hut at Loki to the summit.
The track is (now) made, but new snow will cover it in the coming days.velik nasmeh
Snow above 1900m around 50 cm, lower less and powdery all the way. Due to low temperatures the path below the hut is icy and requires careful steps.

Yesterday Nejc and I said "tomorrow to Raduha".

In the morning we drove to Bukovnik farm, took our gear and headed towards Grohat. Today it wasn't as sunny as yesterday on Olševa, the sun broke through the clouds only in spots. In Grohat we chose the middle of the scree, so we had shelter from big rocks. Until the trail we only heard the wind howling, in the upper part we felt it strongly. From there almost all snow was blown over Durce to the other side. Also the south side of little and big Raduha has snow blown in places, sometimes knee-deep. At the fork we hit a track and walking was somewhat easier, behind us two hikers from Loška side. To the summit a strong gusty wind was pushing us. On top we quickly turned around. The first meters to shelter were a real ordeal, then it calmed to Durce. We experienced another "bora", over Grohat to the base, then nicely calm to the starting point.

Hi, it interests me too...

Which route would be better for ascent, via Bukovnik or Planina Loka?

Are both roads passable?

Thanks and greetings from Croatia nasmeh

Hi, I was yesterday on Raduha from Bukovnik. Road well drivable without chains. Path to Raduha trodden from hut straight over scree, snow powdery, slightly frozen, OK. On Durce snow hard and wind-blown. Yesterday towards summit strong wind and fog down to the ground, some snowflakes too. It was enjoyment for those who like fog, wind and lots of snow. It was great. Good luck!

BUKOVNIK,DURCE,RADUHA,LOKA

Today Nejc and I walked the above described route. Unlike others we didn't have strong wind, though some was blowing. Now we know conditions for both routes to Raduha that interested us.
 We were there quite early1
 View and path selection2
It was already all decided and trampled, from the vikings side3
 Once we also looked back4
The steep section is behind us5
Even at the summit we had nothing to do6
On Loka the snow cover thins out, followed by a short snack7
