The honour of the first tour in 2017 went to our local Raduha. Bukovnik-Grohot-secured path-summit-Lanež-Durce-Grohot-Bukovnik. From Bukovnik to Grohot and to the path junction real winter cold, salty and also cold wind. Then inversion did its work. Checked the secured path, normally passable without winter gear. Here and there snow patch to avoid or cross nicely, in between powder snow parts, but with normal caution it goes reliably without issues. Aids impeccable (praise for PD Mežica). At the summit quite crowded, warm, no wind, views perfect as for days. On the return also to Lanež then via Durce back, some smaller snow patches no problem. On the northern side harsh winter, on the southern and summit pleasant autumn conditions.

Today 24.01.2017 we were up with wife. Started from Radušnik farm. Path/walking mostly on trodden snow without issues.
Some caution driving to start, road bit icy but gritted.

Has anyone walked from Bukovnik past Grohot and over Durce since last snow? Almost no snow on scree, said those who were at GRS avalanche day on Grohot on Saturday.

Today on Raduha. From Bukovnik past Grohot and via Durce to Raduha. Path trodden. On scree recommend crampons, snow hard and frozen, slip risk esp. in steeper part. From Durce to Raduha some icy patches, doable without too. Weather fantastic today.

Not to Raduha BUT only from Kosmačevih Rastk to pl.Javorje and almost to Lanež. On the road and in the forest higher under the pastures there is enough snow for skis. Pastures are partly windblown, scree under Lanež not covered with snow, but still somehow doable with skis. Fog in the valley, full sun on the peaks.

LOKA, RADUHA, BUKOVNIK.

Today Nejc, Jan and I traversed Raduha. From Loka the path is well trodden towards the top. In Grohot, there were no tracks yet. If you're wondering how we got to Loka. Over Smrekovško pogorje. Regards. Janez.

Yesterday from Kosmacevih Rastk to Raduha. Path at start icy, higher up wet snow. During the hike some thin cloudiness, on top sunny and no wind. From the top wonderful views into the valley, where thick fog and smog were rolling.

Today from Radušnik to the top.
Snow starts at cca 1300 meters and up to the hut there's not much of it. Above the hut it's completely different. Up to cca 1700 meters the track of predecessors was still traceable, above that no track anymore and my buddy and I "cut" it completely new. New snow here at least 40 cm, so sinking in...honestly. mrk pogled

On top it was windy, but views outweighed the slog. mežikanje

This weekend the 27th Arnič hike to Raduha took place. I took part in it with a group of friends. I think it's one of the few traditional hikes that has held on in this digital age. I didn't want to betray the tradition, so I joined Rajko and we started together from Luč. Snow starts only a bit below the hut and despite a short detour (amid a bunch of direction signs we missed the path while chatting) after one hour and fifty minutes we reach the hut. Of course we all went to the top, walking on rotten snow wasn't pleasant at all. The sun showed shyly occasionally, so the photos aren't the best either.

Dleskovec, Vel. vrh and Vel. Zelenica, far right Lučki dedec

Ojstrica, Planjava and Brana, in front Krofička.

Turska gora, Skuta, Rinke and Kočna s Kolesom, and Mrzla gora.

If you go from Koča na Loki there won't be big surprises and it'll go without crampons. From the north side (Grohot) probably completely different conditions..

To the parking under Loka (of course) you can drive by car and on the whole "loop" (Radušnik-Loka-Lanež-mala-Vlka Raduha-pl.Arta-Loka) you don't need winter gear, despite some still persistent snow patches towards the top...over Durce there's still snow (pic later) and in my opinion gear isn't superfluous, especially in morning hours (as it was on Saturday)...

Kosmačeve Rastke-pl.Javorje-Lanež-Raduha-Loka and back to starting point. On planina Javorje surprisingly quite some snow and towards Lanež already more than 10 cm. Looks like Javorje and Lanež caught a snow shower, because towards Raduha then less snow. Summit of Raduha around 12h finally got fog and light snowfall but it was nice again.
