Depends on how fast you walk, no big difference. From Vrata you ascend over Sovatna to Dovška Vratca and then a bit around and descend to the hut.

From Zadnjica to the summit it's a good 400m more elevation. An hour of walking, say. Here there are also no intermediate descents, except some really small ones right after the hut.

Which is the nicest path? From Zadnjice, Vršič or Vrata?

Zadnjica, then Krnica and Kriška Stena.

Zadnjica. For the return, if there's fitness and time, over B. Gamsovec to Luknja and down to Zadnjica. One of the nicest ever.

From the road workers' hut via Mlinarica… Even nicer along the right ridge.

If you're skilled at slightly more demanding climbing and have some exploratory spirit, then via Kriška stena and Indijanca, after somewhat annoying scree to the wall, where in nice climbing you reach the northern part of Razor summit. After 50 meters of summit ridge you reach the box...

With some courage, the nicest path for me is from Krnica; nice one-day circular tour goes via Kriška stena, Razor and via second window still to Prisojnik and via Vršič to parking under Mihov dom... Haven't seen description of this tour in forum, but doable same day for fast hiker.... for this year day might be a bit too short!?

darinka; nice shots on a nice tour and your descriptions are praiseworthy, short but that's right. Many more safe steps in our beautiful hills I wish you both!!

Darinka, were you at the summit around 10.30?

No, around 12.30. At 10.30 we were still below the saddle. There we met two guys descending to Vršič.

I think it was those two, because the others, otherwise rare hikers, came later. Those are the two who misled us that the saddle is close.

We were at the top at 12:37. It took us 6 hours and 15 minutes. I checked Mihelič's guidebook. There the walking time is 6-7 hours. Not bad for our age. Anyway, time isn't important to me. Young people stress more about it.

I'm wondering if the path from Vršič to Razor is passable? Or do you recommend rather via Sovatno? Lp

The path is closed between the junction for Zadnje okno and Planja saddle. Meaning the section taking about 1 hour is closed due to worn protections and mostly invisible markers. But the path from Vršič to the junction for Zadnje okno is just renovated, scree cleared, some cables added etc. So probably renovation planned further to Razor, better to wait...
