Rjavina

28.6. to Rjavina via climbing route from Kot.

The path is well equipped with cables and pegs, but on the W side there are 2 fairly deep snowfields that require a short traverse (each 3-5 m). I didn't put on crampons, but the ice axe was quite useful for more stability and better feel.

I recommend ice axe and helmet for this route.

After a pleasantly warm Ojstrica a week ago, yesterday via climbing route with partner to Rjavina. Probably the only one yesterday. On the path there is still a small snowfield which without winter gear is quite annoying to cross, even harder to bypass. Otherwise great tour. At the top a bit of fog, a bit of sun. Descent to Staničeva then back to Kot. But here you could already feel the seasonal pulse.

Yesterday from Kot valley via climbing route to Rjavina. Descent via ridge path back to the valley.

The road is in good condition, as funnyboy already wrote, just one or two torrents have done their thing.

The parking lot was empty when I arrived. Otherwise met few hikers, one overtook me shortly before Debelim kamen, met another at the top, came from Krma direction and on descent below the forest line another two who were heading to Kredarica.

The path from the spring to the forest line is wet and stays that way all day, so pegs and (new) cables help to avoid unpleasant slips.

The climbing route is good, protections are there, markings too. Helmet mandatory, regarding self-belay set, I recommend it for less experienced for sure, because especially towards the end of the path, the last narrow ridge, can be quite adrenaline-pumping, well depending on the person. On the vertical descent on the ridge via pegs, it will be more in the way than helpful.

I descended via the ridge path and at the saddle turned right back to the valley. When crossing the scree here, the path gets a bit lost, but since you know you have to go down, you can just go straight down the scree to the path from Staničev dom.

For walking (without stops) the circular path took me 6 hours 40 min.
Otherwise Rjavina is really a beautiful mountain, worth the effort, rewarding you at the top with unique views.

Whoever is interested, finds a longer description HERE, short video of the path to the top HERE.

Rjavina over Teme. 19.9.2019, start at 7:00 in Krma – Pri lesi, ascent towards Prgarica and before Prgarica turned onto poorly traceable path through Travna dolina past dilapidated hunter's hut to Zgornja Krma, in Zg. Krma back to marked path then again turned onto path past Vel. Pršivec, then ascended via gentle gully near Temena where remains of crashed American bomber from March 1945 are still scattered, 11 crew members died - ?. After viewing aircraft parts we ascended over scree and right along the wall to the grassy part of Temena. Followed direct ascent to Rjavina, for some time over very steep grassy terrain which later turned crumbly rocky, summit at 13.00 – slow walking. Descent via marked path to Dovška vratca and further to Prgarica and Krma. Weather played tricks, fog, towards top quite cold wind. Ascent to Teme doesn't seem so demanding, exposed, as ascent over grassy and crumbly terrain further to Rjavina summit. Some photos http://www.pdmaticams-drustvo.si/.

Ass in pocket, one could say about our yesterday's tour. Usually I take direct routes, this time the weather forecast misled me that at 2500m -4°C, but it was at least that much plus. That we would start from in front of Kovinarska I kind of sensed, since conditions for driving further were very bad. With some high terrain vehicle you could easily reach the goal. Well, we consciously shortened the tour by a few 100m, because it would be too risky on Teme, since steepness, rocks and thin layer of wet snow there don't allow the otherwise short passage, so our goal was the forepeak of Rjavina two meters lower.
To the junction with the path to Kredarica everything went smoothly, colleagues put on snowshoes there, I follow without them in their footsteps. Luckily we soon came across old tracks of skier and snowshoer and followed their trail until it turned left towards Dovška vratca. Below the foot of the hill we chose directions a bit, as due to extremely high temperature lazy surface avalanches of rotten snow were already releasing along the gullies. After six hours and 15 minutes we finally arrived at the top - as far as I remember I have never walked to any summit so long in my lifemrk pogled
There we stay for good half an hour and enjoy really beautiful views. Let me add a warning that right at the top where we were there is a four-meter cornice and I warn of the very great lurking danger to potential visitors of this part of the mountain. Except for a few hikers towards Kredarica we saw no living soul.

Annual visit to my very beloved mountain Rjavina was this year already at the beginning of the summer season.
We started in Krma and at Mali polje right towards Lovska koča, treated ourselves to breakfast with a view and continued through the flowering Kravja dolina under Pršivec, where we crossed some snow patches towards the remains of the bomber. A few days ago Franci sent us a picture of the upper passage and we decided to try it. Zdenka made a nice passage, easy to follow without issues, just a bit of caution due to friability. Seems we saved the knee-grinder of the lower part of Temen. We climb to the top, enjoy the solitude and beautiful views, rushing clouds, admiring all around, Triglav especially attracts the gaze.
We continue along the ridge towards Staničev dom. The ridge is rocky, full of scree.. careful....
A bit before the hut we realize based on the morning forecast change and notice that rain with thunderstorms might start soon, so coffee break at Kredarica is off and we decide for descent along the marked path to Krma, later turn to the hunters' path to the hut. There we eat lunch and to Krma. A few raindrops just before the car...
